Lets talk about wine. I saw these #featheredfriends bottles of red wine from Chile, yesterday and I bought a bottle. Its hubby’s birthday and we love wine. I call myself mother goose when we go out and what used to be 6 of us is now 8 with attached boy and girlfriend so that bottle was appropriate.
Most of us are not averse to a glass of alcohol from time to time. According to a recent study, 8 out of 10 adult Dutch people sometimes drink alcohol. In our household, sometimes is “more often” Logically, you drink an extra glass of wine at the holidays or at the Christmas dinner. But how (un) healthy is that really and what are fables or facts? Not that the myths will stop me from drinking but just to blog about it is fun.
( while she sips her wine Ofcourse )

🍷

We had a wine from Chile and a red wine from Spain, with 5 people drinking wine, just on a Tuesday that is pretty decent.
Below the 4 most important myths about alcohol and your health that have now been proven by science:

Myth 1: One glass of wine a day is healthy

This is probably the most persistent myth surrounding alcohol consumption. It is important to realize that your body and brain regard alcohol as a toxic substance. Small amounts are therefore not healthy either. The advantages such as the (pain) narcotic effect and disappearing inhibitions simply do not outweigh the disadvantages from a health perspective. But when you drink in a normal matter it’s ok.

🍷

Myth 2: Red wine is good for heart and blood vessels

Indeed, there are indications that a little bit of red wine can have a protective effect on cardiovascular disease. This is because of the antioxidants in the wine, which increase good HDL cholesterol and lower bad LDL cholesterol. Yet it is too short-sighted to say that red wine is good for heart and blood vessels, and not a free pass to drink alot everyday.

Other research shows that drinking alcohol (such as red wine) can lead to higher blood pressure. This increases the risk of cardiac arrhythmias or even a heart attack. You can also easily achieve the positive effect of the antioxidants in red wine by eating other antioxidant-rich foods. For example, a handful of blueberries a day is much healthier! We do both !

🍷

Myth 3: Alcohol helps to relax

Indeed, alcohol can temporarily help release negative thoughts and soothe feelings of stress. For me its also a moment of peace and talking about our work days before dinner. In any case, your brain doesn't relax when you've been drinking alcohol, although it can sometimes feel like it. Real relaxation is not in a drink, but in activities that help your brain to activate the default network. This network of brain areas is especially active during rest and ensures that you worry less, think more clearly and deal with problems more creatively. So alcohol is a short term solution.
If you have a good bottle of red,
its a great short term solution if you ask me.

🍷

Myth 4: Alcohol helps you sleep better

Alcohol has been known as a nice nightcap for generations. In general, you will indeed fall asleep faster if you first drank a beer, wine or other alcoholic drink. Unfortunately, this does not mean that you will actually sleep better. Research shows that both your deep sleep and REM sleep are considerably shorter. Because these phases are shorter, you sleep more restlessly and wake up the morning after drinking alcohol with a fuller head and often even tired. In that respect, alcohol has the same effect as stress on your night's sleep. I disagree, I only know that I snore when I have had to much to drink.

Enjoy, but drink in moderation! A L W A Y S !!

Of course there is nothing wrong with having a nice glass of wine or your other favorite drink every now and then. It is important not to fool yourself into thinking that alcohol consumption is healthy. Alcohol is one of the most harmful drugs in the world and is downright bad for your brain balance. It numbs your hippocampus, disrupts the functioning of all kinds of neurotransmitters, has a major influence on the functioning of your prefrontal cortex and can also cause brain damage.

The motto 'Enjoy, but drink in moderation' certainly applies. The less you drink, the better your brain likes it. And the better you feel the next day!
I have a husband who loves wine aswell, family in Italy so when we plan a holiday we always look if there a wines from tphat area so we can taste the local wines. I think that is such a nice thing to do while on holiday so I am looking forward to the trip this summer to TUSCANY.

I know a few here on the platfrom love a glass of wine aswell, so I know we have wine lovers among us. Wine is a way of living life and appreciate it. The way it’s made, the proces from grape to bottle, the shape and the labelled bottle. We like it and tasting in the process of determining what is the wine you want to buy, is always fun. One of the greater joys in life.
The wine life,
is a stylish life and
now also a #lifestylelounge style !

Wine and beer are drugs in a sense and even drugs can be beneficial since drugs are medicine. The problem is when you overdose or other complications. I love the goose on these wine bottles.
