Beautiful Sunday: new orchids in my garden

Last week was rather full of activities in my garden and we had very exciting rain storms. Luckily the strong wind did not last too long. Several mangoes were strewn on the ground. My gardener had a good time collecting about a hundred mangoes for selling to the local vendor at the market. I did taste some of these mangoes; they were very sweet and naturally fragrant as we grow these trees organically. Nowadays I no longer buy fruits from supermarkets as they don’t taste as nice as organic fruits. As I was walking around the garden, I was quite surprised to spot yellow orchids for the first time on the trees. These were given to me as new year’s presents two years ago. I never knew they had yellow orchids, but they had no fragrance.

At first I spotted only one yellow orchid plant, a second round of inspection I saw another one at a lower trunk of an old tree. These came as a surprise as these blossoms appear during hot summer season. I assume that most orchids like to blossom in cooler months of January. This year I could not spot my favourite red/deep purple orchids. My gardener move this one from its previous tree trunks to somewhere else. I hope she would survive the shock. She is the rarest orchid’s colours I had ever seen before, I think she’s unique as I could not find the same orchid at any flowers markets! What a shame! I will have to find out where she has gone too.

สัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมาเรามีกิจกรรมในสวนมากมาย ท่ามกลางอากาศร้อนในตอนกลางวัน และต้องดูแลต้นไม้ เพราะเราเจอพายุฝนตกหนักสองวัน เราชอบฟังเสียงฟ้าร้องมาก โชคดีที่ลมแรงพัดมาไม่นานนัก มะม่วงลูกใหญ่ร่วงลงมาที่พื้นดินหลายลูก แต่ยังมีเหลือติดต้นมาก ปีก่อนมะม่วงอกร่องร่วงลงมาร้อยกว่าลูก ปีนี้เจ้ากระรอกสามตัวมากัดกินมะม่วงหลายลูกจนตกลงพื้นดิน พวกมันฉลาดมาก เลือกกินแต่ลูกที่กำลังสุกพอดี เราเลยอดกินมะม่วงอร่อยๆอีกแล้ว ปีนี้เราเดินเจอกล้วยไม้สีเหลืองในสวนสองต้นออกดอกสวยงามอยู่ที่ต้นประดู่ เพื่อนเก่าให้กล้วยไม้พวกนี้เราเป็นของขวัญปีใหม่เมื่อสองปีที่แล้ว เราก็พึ่งเห็นว่ามีดอกสีเหลือง ส่วนใหญ่เราจะเห็นแต่สีม่วง ดีใจมากที่มีกล้วยไม้ออกดอกใหม่

เราเคยมีกล้วยไม้ที่มีดอกออกสีแดงเลือดหมู ดอกมีความสวยงามมาก แต่เราหาต้นนี้ไม่เจอแล้ว คนสวนจับย้ายไปแปะที่ต้นไม้ต้นอื่น เราคิดว่ามันคงช็อคไปแล้ว ไม่ยอมออกดอกให้เห็นเลย เราต้องไปตามหาว่าอยู่ที่ไหน เราพยายามหาซื้อมาเพิ่มแต่ไม่เคยเจอตามตลาดนัดต้นไม้เลย ส่วนกล้วยไม้สีเหลืองนี่ดอกแข็งแรงมาก แต่ไม่มีกลิ่นหอมเหมือนพวกสีม่วงดอกเล็ก ปีนี้อากาศแปรปรวนทำให้กล้วยไม้ออกดอกน้อยมาก ในอดีตเราเคยเห็นดอกกล้วยไม้สีม่วงออกดอกบ่อยมาก ปีนี้ดูเหมือนจะหายไปครึ่งหนึ่ง เราคงต้องหาเวลาและปุ๋ยไปใส่ต้นกล้วยไม้บ้างแล้ว เราขอเอารูปกล้วยไม้ปีก่อนมาให้ดู เป็นการเปรียบเทียบว่า พวกสีม่วงนี่มีดอกดกมาก และมีกลิ่นหอมอ่อนๆด้วย

These were some of my purple orchids last year. They looked quite wild and soft to me and they hardly needed any special attention.

Now you could see why I like these purple orchids more than those with strong and thick petals. These would dance in the wind and they were always smiling to me.
