Tengo gran afición por el deporte, esto es algo que he heredado de mi padre desde los principios de mi vida. Recuerdo que la mayoría del tiempo que estábamos juntos estaba relacionado con dos cosas, su trabajo en la radio o alguna actividad deportiva que para ese entonces estuviese desarrollándose en la ciudad. Sino era un evento oficial deportivo, pues estábamos visitando algún gimnasio, terreno o cualquier espacio donde estuviesen practicando deporte.

I have a great love for sports, this is something I have inherited from my father since the beginning of my life. I remember that most of the time we were together was related to two things, his work in the radio or some sporting activity that by then was taking place in the city. If it was not an official sporting event, we were visiting a gym, field or any space where they were practicing sports.

Antes de la radio mi papá fue trabajador en el estadio "Antonio Herrera Gutiérrez" de Barquisimeto, legendario estadio de beisbol casa de los Cardenales de Lara representante de nuestra ciudad. Cada vez que habla de esa etapa de su vida, sus ojos se ven brillosos y se infla de orgullo por haber formado parte de la historia del deporte mas emblemático del país. Compartió con grandes jugadores que han sido reconocidas como glorias deportivas de Venezuela. Tuvo contacto directo con la familia Carrasquel, de hecho Domingo es mi padrino en la fe cristiana católica.

Una de las parte de sus historias y que mas disfruto es el contacto con figuras del extranjero, la mayoría estadounidenses y nunca deja de mencionar algunas frases, saludos que haya aprendido con algunos de estos. Por mencionar alguno, Cecil Filders, Ron Shepperd, Eric Rasmussen y muchos otros. Estos tuvieron contacto conmigo cuando apenas era un bebe, hasta me regalaron una cuna, no recuerdo quien fue, pero eso no puede faltar en esos relatos.

Before the radio, my dad worked at the "Antonio Herrera Gutiérrez" stadium in Barquisimeto, legendary baseball stadium home of the Cardenales de Lara, representative of our city. Every time he talks about that stage of his life, his eyes shine and he swells with pride for having been part of the history of the most emblematic sport in the country. He shared with great players who have been recognized as sports glories of Venezuela. He had direct contact with the Carrasquel family, in fact Domingo is my godfather in the Catholic Christian faith.

One of the parts of his stories that I enjoy the most is the contact with foreign figures, most of them Americans and he never fails to mention some phrases, greetings that he has learned with some of them. To mention a few, Cecil Filders, Ron Shepperd, Eric Rasmussen and many others. They had contact with me when I was just a baby, they even gave me a cradle, I don't remember who it was, but that can't be missing in those stories.

Todas esas historias y relatos vinieron a mi mente la semana pasada cuando fui a acompañar a mi ahijada a sus practicas de softbol, en realidad quede bastante sorprendido cuando me dio la noticia de que lo estaba haciendo. Ella es una chica que a primera vista se ve frágil, sin embargo a demostrado que puede adaptarse y hacer las cosas bien. Como su padrino debo apoyarla en sus actividades y esta fue una gran oportunidad puesto que su mama, mi comadre, no podía acompañarla pues debía realizar otras diligencias.

All those stories and tales came to my mind last week when I went to accompany my goddaughter to her softball practice, I was actually quite surprised when she gave me the news that she was doing it. She is a girl who at first glance looks fragile, however she has shown that she can adapt and do things right. As her sponsor I have to support her in her activities and this was a great opportunity since her mother, my comadre, could not accompany her because she had other errands to run.

Cuando entramos al campo se vinieron a las mente muchas cosas, entre estas los relatos de mi papa, además de buenos recuerdos porque vine muchas veces a este estadio, no solo como aficionado, también vine como jugador, recuerdo que fue la única vez que conecte un jonrón, soy un bateador de contacto por tanto el poder no me caracterizó durante mi carrera como jugador de softbol. ¡Así que no lo olvidaré! :)

Por otro lado si no lo han notado y esto es directamente con los que conocen la ciudad en su ámbito deportivo, este también es un estadio mítico el "Aquiles Machado", que tiene en su haber muchísima historia. Es por eso que lo elegí para hacer mi participación en el concurso realizado por la comunidad de @celf.magazine y su concurso fotográfico con motivo del "Blanco y Negro".

When we entered the field many things came to mind, among these my dad's stories, plus good memories because I came many times to this stadium, not only as a fan, I also came as a player, I remember it was the only time I hit a home run, I am a contact hitter so power did not characterize me during my career as a softball player. So I will not forget it! :)

On the other hand if you have not noticed and this is directly with those who know the city in its sports field, this is also a mythical stadium the "Aquiles Machado", which has to its credit a lot of history. That's why I chose it to make my participation in the contest held by the community of @celf.magazine and its photo contest on the occasion of the "Black and White".
