The March homeless Meal went off without a hitch this last Sunday!

As we do each month, we made food they don't usually get. We made haystacks, refried beans, Spanish rice, mac and cheese, homemade chicken and dumplins, sugar cookies, lemonaid, iced tea, beef stew, and this time we popped and buttered popcorn!

The aluminum containers are full of cinnamon rolls that are wrapped, and still warm. They were popular, LOL! :-)

Volunteer area, everyone is all ready:

The homeless begin to arrive:

The haystacks begin here:

Layers of fritos are covered with chili and beans, then lettuce, onions, salsa, and grated cheese. Kind of a taco salad that has grown up. They love it! Then we fill the plate up with whatever food they want.

One Lady made a hundred or so, individually wrapped cinnamon rolls. They were Very popular, LOL!

We had some new volunteers:

These are two elders from two different churches, and a sweet Lady that runs a food bank. They all support us, and all wanted some hands on time. So we put them to work....

He helped make the haystacks, and worked Hard! We served 80 homeless, and many came back for seconds. We had beautiful, if slightly windy weather; and no one left hungry!

He has a real burden for the homeless, and was invited several years ago, to observe. He Has not missed a single feeding since then! He is a staunch supporter of feeding those in need, and has influenced his church to send support and volunteers. He is a good Man, and has my respect!

We take any leftovers and feed those under the bridges who are too far away to walk. We don't photograph them, out of respect. They are good people, in a bad spot; and I wish we could do more!

It was a rewarding day, and we may add the popcorn as a regular treat.

Every month! We try to give them food that is really good, home made if possible. Stuff they don't normally see.

We have fed some of them for a decade, and have managed to get some jobs and places to stay. They are good people in trouble....
