Mikkelsen to enter WRC Portugal, Sardinia and Safari with Škoda WRC2 machinery

Norwegian Andreas Mikkelsen put lots of pressure on himself saying that he wants to dominate every rally he is entered in. Well, it's optimistic but is it also real?

I guess not because there is something called mechanical problem which is out of hands for a human being. There is also a possibility of doing mistakes because we are not a robots, we are again humans and humans make mistakes.

Mikkelsen made a mistake on special stage two on Croatia Rally and that's why he had really bad result there finishing only 5th in WRC2 class but he again won Power Stage. He is the driver who won every Power Stage this season - at Monte Carlo, Arctic Rally and in Croatia. That means that he can perform great under pressure.

He decided to take full first part of the 2021 season to make a space for potential WRC1 test drive because works teams are developing their hybrid cars at the moment and M-Sport ford doesn't have contracted drivers for the next season. Because they gave Adrien Fourmaux test role recently, that means that he is in sight for the next season. But they also need someone more experienced and also who won the WRC rally in the past.

Mikkelsen could be their man. Richard Millener, M-Sport team principal, told me after I asked him about Mikkelsen, that they offered him something for this season but he refused it.

I guess that they offered him a drive but with paying to drive contract. O don't like that stuff. But that's because there is more free drivers then potential works seats.

For now he will drive Škoda with Toksport and later he can negotiate for something better if results will be there. The future will tell us more.
