Kopecky won Rallye Šumava 2021

Hi, friends!

I just can't believe how today's Rally2 or R5 cars are much quicker then decade year WRC cars!? It is just so unbelievable that modern car of 300bhp is so much quicker then decade old 350bhp WRC car.

What am I talking about?
I am talking about latest generation of Škoda Fabia Rally2 cars who used to be called R5 against Ford Focus WRC 2008 spec (which was also ran until the end of 2010 as a factory car).

Škoda doesn't run a factory team this season so they "factory" driver Jan Kopecky had to deal with their satellite team called Agrotec Škoda Rally Team. So they are running WRC2 program with ToKsport from Germany, and we still don't know which outfit will run their European Rally Championship program this season. That's because ERC still didn't start, and that's because of coronavirus pandemic cancellation of rallies.

I know that Kopecky is the fastest driver in Czech Republic but there are some young guns like Jan Černy and Filip Mareš who are trying hard to come closer in times on the special stages, but for now it is just too much difference between them.

So after 150km of special stages Kopecky finished in front of that pair by half a minute and those two guys finished inside of 0.3s. Yeah, Černy won in front of ex-Junior European Rally Champion Mareš who has tough times when battling against top guys,

Mareš will have to prove his quality while Černy is around for years. Let the best win - as always...
