Crugnola gets works WRC2 entry for WRC Rally Sardinia with Hyundai

Hi, friends!

There are three names entered by Hyundai works team for WRC2 class at WRC Sardinia Rally 2021 but only one of them is interested to me 100%. We are talking about super quick Italian Andrea Crugnola who also won the Italian Rally Championship last season with Citroen.

I wrote about him numerous times and posted some of the onboard videos of him when he was still in developing days as a driver.

It seems that Hyundai look for a young or less known hopes because Crugnola isn't that young anymore.He is already 32 but he showed his prospects when he won Italian championship as a junior in 2013. But that doesn't mean much in motorsport because if you don't have the budget, you can't drive and develop yourself.

It was the same with Crugnola who waited another 7 years to win the super competitive Italian championship where top WRC drivers have problems to win some events against private Italian super brave drivers, such as Crugnola.

There is one more thing: Crugnola is known as tarmac specialist and Sardinia is a gravel rally so it is a question how he will perform against the opposition, especially against two other top dogs in WRC2 class entered by Hyundai: Ole-Christian Veiby and Jari Huttunen who are mainly gravel specialists.

There will be another Hyundai entry but in WRC3 class and I am talking about Oliver Solberg who has the most prominent future of all Hyundai juniors. That is only my opinion, of course, but I follow this sport for almost 30 years and it seems that way at the moment.

It would be so nice to see a top Italian in the World Rally Championship again after Gigi Galli left the top of the sport more then 10 years ago.
