Come to Jesus

Matthew 9:18-25
18 While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.
19 And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples.
20 And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment:
21 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.
22 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.
23 And when Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise,
24 He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.
25 But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose.

We read about two healings performed by our Lord Jesus Christ on two daughters of Israel in the above text. The daughter of Jairus a leader of the synagogue and the woman with the issue of blood. One stopped bleeding, which restored her life. The other had her life restored, so that she could continue to “bleed” and eventually produce life.
The woman with the issue of blood and Jairus had something in common: both of them had come to the end of their resources. They had nowhere else to go but to Jesus, and to hope for His mercy. But as the old hymn goes;

When we have exhausted our store of endurance,When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,When we reach the end of our hoarded resources,
Our Father's full giving is only begun.

“While He spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped Him” how often do we regard authorities’, in simpler terms do you recognised a friends’ ministerial office? his worship depicts total submission, Jesus, I am tired. Just so with the woman when she admitted that, "If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well."

Beloved let’s note that after submission comes faith, and faith births restorations. Both events though involved the same number of years, so does it applies the same action.

Even so as our text is silent on the woman’s status the number of years for her treatment must have cost a fortune.

The synagogue, of course, was the place the Jewish people gathered for worship and religious instruction. And "the ruler of the synagogue" was the man who had been chosen by the elders of the synagogue to oversee its operations. He did several things. He saw to the upkeep of the building. He supervised its times of worship. He was responsible to choose men to read the scriptures, or to pray, or to give instruction to the people. With all these both recognized the power in Christ.

People of God how often do we recognize the abilities and gifting of our fellow when offering our criticisms? Their recognition propelled them to live above their insecurities.

It brought about in them a conviction that generate faith through their act
A faith to cast all surrounding moments aside and focus on the truth which Christ Jesus.A faith that nothing but the restoration power of the Father Almighty.

Beloved if only we will not let our pride or our situation be a barrier but recognise God us our ultimate source of life, then we shall have life and have it in abundance. Come to him and you will be restored.
