DO NOT GIVE IN TO THE DESIRES OF THE FLESH.

There is no aspect of your being that seeks autonomy as much as your flesh. The flesh in its wild and unruly longings always seeks to have its way. The flesh hates being caged.

The Bible affirms in Galatians 5:19-21 –

“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envying, murders, drunkenness, reviling and such like: of the which I tell you in time past, they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God”.

It is very clear from this Scripture passage, that giving in to the autonomy of the flesh is banishing yourself from the kingdom of God.

Looking around, it is very easy to find so much of the works of the flesh. So many have given in to the autonomy of the flesh. They allow themselves to be ruled by the dictates of the flesh, basking in the short term pleasure which the sinful works of the flesh guarantees. Sin could be pleasurable, but it doesn’t last, it is just for a moment. It could be very deceitful; it may be sweet to your taste, but it soon turns out to be like gravel in the mouth.

It is foolishness giving into something that will make you smile for a moment and turns out to be the source of bitter regrets afterwards. The wages of sin is death and it is not negotiable. Why give in to the momentary pleasure of fleshy lusts only to be handed a “pay slip” of death afterwards?

When you allow yourself to be overpowered by your flesh, you will not miss a life of crises and an eternity of regret. The flesh which is the housing unit of your human spirit is in a constant struggle with your human spirit for the control of your whole being. If you allow it, you are doomed. One of the fiercest highlights of salvation is the enablement your human spirit receives from the Holy Spirit, to help you subdue the flesh and put it under.

Apostle Paul in a conscious way subdued his flesh and denied it the autonomy it sought, in a bid to avoid an eternity of regret (1 Cor. 9:27).

It is your covenant duty with the help of the Holy Spirit within you, to “kill” the longings of the flesh. This is the hallmark of the power that becomes yours when you receive Jesus as Lord and Savior.

Never you say you can’t for you have what it takes.
