Last night I was up on bed, I almost stayed all through the night without closing my eyes. I was thinking about life and how to make it out. Then, it seems like someone whispered into my ears those words words "why are you troubled" If it were possible, the devil would have kept us permanently sad and depressed. Like I was sighting instance of what I was going through at night.
Why am I so troubled? I will put my hope in God, and once again I will praise him, my savior and my God. Psalms 42:5
My heart was really troubled while I was recounting the bad experiences I had at the the previous days. Then, I realized that devil wants us to be counting our loses and sorrows, thus exalting those things over our lives which is the greatest gift to prove that God's been faithful.
There's a woman that was living in our neigbourhood, she was blessed with three kids but all were were female. AS such, the woman made it as a point of duty to always be complaining that she wished she had at least one male child instead of the three kids. Hmmmm, I was really angry with this continuous complaint because it was beginning to get out of hand.
This woman had perhaps forgotten that in this life that it is the female children that most often take good care of their parents even better than the male kids. She obviously forgets that there are girls that pass the night to pray for their husbands and the family- a task which the male would consider it a bit difficult thing to do.
We know that David the Psalmist was victorious because despite the many encounters he had and difficult situations he found himself-some which made his spirit man very heavy and tried stealing his destiny. He got so depressed and discouraged that his heart could have faint. But the Scripture says that he talked to himself and tried to calm himself down, "Why art thou cast down oh my soul? Put your hope in the Lord.' He was saying.
The interpretation of this prayer is very simple he was like say "David pull yourself together" Why have you lost your joy? I mean why have you allow yourself to be easily discouraged? Whatsoever happens, God is still God and he sits on the throne. His thoughts about you are still the thought of good and not evil. Thus they are still intact and has not been changed, so do not allow yourself to be discouraged.
Hence, when next the heaviness tries to come to steal your joy or peace, you have to do like David, look at the blessings of the past and how God has been giving you and trust in the Lord and praise Him. Without doubt, He will give you His strength and empower you to overcome every obstacle you may be facing. Problem will surely come, negative thoughts will invade your privacy but remember the choice is yours- to believe the lies of the enemy or accept and believe the promises of God.
Father Lord, please give me the strength to stand on your word always.
