Train yourself to follow your spirit and not your flesh.

Your soul can hear and carry - out instruction based upon how you discipline yourself in the word of God.
Training is the discipline am talking about.

Part of a Christian growth is getting to a place where we can follow our spirit and not our flesh. The flesh is constantly desiring worldly, carnal negative things, but the spirit is joined with the Lord and desires Godly things.

The soul hears and can follow either the spirit or the flesh, remember it is the joint or connector.

When your spirit says, " I want to pray for thirty minutes and seeketh Lord this morning", your flesh says, " I want to stay in bed and watch TV".

Your soul is the controller and you must decide which one you're going to follow.

I Corinthians 6:17 says;

But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit.

God is concerned with the sanctification or purifying and renewal of your soul because without it, you will be constantly controlled by your fleshly desires.

There are right things that constitutes a poor soul which can also be turned into element of a prosperous soul.

  • Lack of knowledge of the Bible; Hosea 4:6

my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. “Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.

  • Being controlled by the desires of the flesh; Romans 8:5

Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.

  • Being weak, indecisive or double minded; James 1:8

Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.

  • Fantasizing on negativity and not being able to control your thoughts.

  • Refusing to change, defending past behaviours and excusing yourself. Proverbs 9:7-9

Whoever corrects a mocker invites insults; whoever rebukes the wicked incurs abuse.
Do not rebuke mockers or they will hate you; rebuke the wise and they will love you.
Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.

  • Spending all your life on natural, earthly material things. Colossians 3:1-2

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.

  • Allowing fear, anger, bitterness, gossip or negative thinking to consume you. Philippians 4:8

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

  • Allowing emotions to control attitudes and behavior.

CONCLUSION
It is only when your soul is strengthened through the word of God that it begins to prosper, and your whole life will begin to prosper, and you will sense the Holy spirit working in your spirit to direct your soul.
