Key verse:
"Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. v25"

If you were Paul and Silas would you have praised God for being in prison because of preaching the gospel or would you rather question why God did not save you after He has promised to be with you, if you go preaching the gospel?

Our Attitude in the face of persecution while preaching the gospel says a lot about us. Their offence was casting out demons from a demon possessed girl. They freed her from bondage but her freedom affected the business of her master and aroused anger and hatred for Paul. This led to their being put in prison under tight security. But instead of blaming God or complaining about their predicament, they turned to prayer and praise.

Beloved, whenever God brings an opportunity our way in the form of challenges; may Paul and Silas attitude be our model. One act of demonstrating Gods power over evil spirits attracted a night in prison; one act of praise and prayers to God opened the doors of the prison and brought one jailer and his household to the fold.

Yes, what was meant to hinder the exposition of the gospel rather brought more souls to Gods kingdom and strengthened the church in
