Luke 6:27-36 KJV
[27] But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, [28] Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. [29] And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also. [30] Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again. [31] And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. [32] For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. [33] And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. [34] And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. [35] But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. [36] Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

We are called Christians which means Christ like. That is, we are expected to live our life just like Christ. But it is unfortunate that many Christians are just Christians by name but their lifestyle does not show that they are Christians.

There is a story of a man who was a Christian. He entered a public transport and started preaching in the bus on a topic “Forgiveness is the Passport to Heaven”. A while later after preaching, the conductor asked for his transport fare. The man gave 100 naira to the conductor and demanded for change because the transport fare was less than 100 naira.

Unfortunately, the conductor did not have change. The young Christian man started exchanging words with the conductor which led to fight. An old woman asked him, “You just finished preaching a good message now, but why can’t you live by what you have preached? That is exactly the lifestyle of many people who called themselves Christians.

Love is the heart of Jesus’ teaching, and we must also extend the love to our enemies. Jesus commanded that we love everyone and forbid treating others spitefully. We need to be merciful just as our Father is merciful. As Christians, we are not to have a retaliatory attitude. Our example and our goal should be God’s perfection. Remember, Paul said that we are the letters that people read daily.

Jesus’ teaching regarding the social and ethical lifestyle that should be preached to others is demonstrated by Jesus Christ Himself. How do you live your life as a Christian? As a believer, can your lifestyle bring people to God and send them away? What are others saying about your Christian lifestyle? Let your lifestyle preach you as Christians.

Love others as you love yourself. Showing your enemies true love can bring them to Christ. Love everyone as Jesus did.

I pray God will us the grace to love everyone, in Jesus Name. Amen.

Thanks for Dropping By !

Best regards
