Behold, he whose soul is not upright takes pride; but the just shall live by his faith.

When my little son asks me, Dad, what are we going to eat today? I stare at his innocent face and reply, "God will provide."

I am an unemployed father like many in my beautiful Venezuela and we know that the crisis in our country is rampant and anyone can easily fall into discouragement and depression. However, as a Christian I recognize that our walk with Christ is by faith. That is the reason why I answer my little son "God will provide himself." Although he simply does not understand much about walking by faith, it is time to teach him that we children of God move according to the promises of the Lord. The moments of crisis are for us to show fidelity and perseverance. We must be faithful to our God and trust how powerful He is to give us the provision we need. In the same way we must be persevering in our faith, even if we do not see at the moment what we need for sustenance, we do not walk by sight but by faith.

God will use the circumstances of hunger or scarcity to show His wonderful plans for our lives. In the days of Abraham there was a famine, which caused Abraham to go to Egypt, God brought him out of Egypt very millionaire. In the days of Isaac a famine also occurred, God's plans was to enrich Isaac in the same land where there was a famine and he told Isaac to stay there, not to move from that place, because there he was going to to bless in a great way and he was going to give that land by inheritance to his descendants. The same happened in the days of Joseph when, after being sold by his brothers, Joseph was taken to Egypt, although he lived through terrible moments, God led him to be governor of Egypt, right hand of Pharaoh.

When the famine arose in Egypt and throughout the land, God's plans with Joseph was to sustain many people from all over the earth including Joseph's family.

In times of hardship, hunger, scarcity and crisis, we must have the full assurance that "God will provide himself."
