Devotional: God's promised presence

avatar

Nobody will be able to face you in all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, I will be with you; I will not leave you, nor will I forsake you. Joshua 1: 5 King James Version (KJV)

"As I was with Moses, I will be with you."

The presence of God in the life of the Christian is constant and permanent. In the Old Testament we find the promise that God had first made with Moses, from the very moment when he called him to free the people of Israel from the slavery of Egypt. God promised Moses to accompany him in every situation until he achieved the goal of liberation for the people of Israel.

We all know that God fought for his people while being a slave in Egypt. The presence of God in the life of Moses was very noticeable, especially in the glorious events when the people of Israel were trapped in the Red Sea. God fulfilled his promise to liberate his people, in an amazing and glorious way he opened the red sea to give victory to his people Israel.

In the same way, God promised young Joshua that just as he had been with Moses, he would be with him wherever he was. The promise was made more powerful by God in Joshua, because God told him, "I will not leave you or forsake you."

What God did in the days of Moses he did more forcefully in the days of Joshua, not only did he open the Jordan River, but also God accompanied Joshua in all the battles he fought with his enemies in the promised land.

In this present time, it is no longer about Moses and Joshua, it is now about the Lord's church. God promised to be with the believers every day of their lives. God extended the promise from the Old Testament to the New Testament.

We as Christians enjoy this living promise and do not have to doubt. In the way that God opened the Red Sea and the Jordan, in the same way God will open every obstacle and knock down every wall of problems, which seek to stop the advance of the Lord's church.

God guarantees his presence to us through the Holy Spirit, who will be with us every day until the rapture of the church occurs. The presence of God is more noticeable in the Lord's church, because He left the comforter, who is the Holy Spirit, to guide us into all truth and justice. The Holy Spirit fights our spiritual battles and is always with us to help us advance in our goal of always serving our heavenly Father.

We must not fear the adverse circumstances that we may be living, we must trust that God is present with us in the midst of difficulties and that he will give us victory over stormy times and we will cross to the other side of the storm as victorious soldiers of Jesus Christ .
