Feathered Friday - Bird Spotting this Week
Here are a few birds I spotted for this week's #featheredfriday by @melinda010100
I saw a couple of red bellied woodpeckers by the lake. This one actually stopped long enough for a couple shots. You can actually see a bit of its red belly feathers here.
And the only other shot of the red bellied woodpecker that turned out. The rest are blurry because he was scurrying up the tree too fast.
Right in the same tree I noticed a branch swinging and caught a shot of a blurry bird taking off.
Fortunately it wasn't scared of me and just flitted around the tree in various spots looking for small insects.
Finally I got a good clear shot of it. I believe it is a female pine warbler, very tiny but the white feathers on the wings and the overall slightly yellow grayish color point to it being a pine warbler.
It posed for quite a few shots though it was quite hard to locate it again in the zoom lens as it was constantly bouncing around.
Here it is hiding behind the leaves right above my head. I suspect the warblers will be gone south soon as all the bugs are starting to die off from the cold.
Meanwhile next to the boathouse here is a common house sparrow. The camera did catch a flying bug of sorts on the upper right. If only this sparrow had been a fly catcher it would have made for a good action shot.
I spotted my cormorant again on his same rock. He sits here almost every day on that same rock at around 8am. sticks to the schedule well lol.
That's all for this #featheredfriday more soon...
So sweet 🥰
Thanks, they posed nicely this week.
My pleasure 🥰
It really is🤗
If I saw that warbler I would probably just assume it was a goldfinch. I will have to pay closer attention!
They are super tiny about 2/3 the size of a goldfinch. I barely noticed it above my head in the trees.
Those birds are beautiful! Very nice shots.
The little warbler got really close too they are so small and fast I've never gotten close shots of them before.
👍Great photos as always. I especially liked the woodpecker.
His spiked tail feathers are interesting too, they spike them into the sides of trees to get a good grip for pecking the tree.
Incredibly, the capture of this bird's image is perfect.
Thanks it was a lucky time when they were somewhat relaxed in morning and not afraid of me.
Yeah, that looks amazing.
