Bringing you a bird post again.

Not any bird post, as I also have the illusive Amethyst sunbird in here.
133.jpg

Now you didn't think I would make the Amethyst the first picture, as I thought the little Cape White Eye would make a better tag picture.
He picked up a lump of cheese that Marian gave him.

But I will not keep you in suspense and here below is the secretive Amethyst (Chalcomitra amethystina) that I was lucky to get on my camera.
As usual, he sat for a few seconds and I could not get any other shots of him on the pincushion flower.
139.jpg

But I knew, somehow, that he would fly up into a high tree to sit for a moment, so I jumped up and followed him with the zoom.
He sat for a minute and then disappeared.
161.jpg

This one you will know by now, as it is a little Southern Double-collared sunbird that I caught midsong on camera. He was too far away to get him on video, but I will get his song on video soon.
170.jpg

Another shot of him, as he just kept on singing away.
It sounded like he was singing praises to our Maker for the new Spring season. Or maybe he just wanted to impress the ladies.
175.jpg

Finally, just some bees on a lovely flower to make your eyes happy.
200.jpg

We can cry in life and struggle morosely, or we can skip and dance on our journey on this earth. I prefer the latter but I am getting so old now that my skipping has changed into hopping like an old character called Hop-a-long-Cassidy. I think it was a Western movie, and luckily I don't carry a Colt six shooter on my hip like the cowboys did.
Else I would have shot my toe off while hopping a long time ago. Or maybe something else that I don't even want to think about.

Just another light hearted post here, that I hope you have enjoyed.

And That's All Friends!

Thanks for the window into spring down under! I like the last one best...beautiful colors. Sounds like you need a parabolic microphone.

I am also partial to the honey bees, these look like a Russian breed of bees. They are very docile, and are good honey producers.

Thank you and all that I know about them is that they are honey bees.
They have many hives here on the honey farms and they also rent the hives out in Spring season to the fruit and wine farms for pollination purposes.

I have kept bees, and plan on doing that again when I get to the homestead. They are nice honey partners. I will probably do Buckfast bees, but the Russian are hardy too.

lI have no idea about the different bird species, but I will find out what kinds we have here.
Africa is very hot and I think that they might be some local species. Will let you know.

Oh, I meant to ask you, is it Toby Smith perhaps?

Cheers.

Yup, guilty as charged, LOL 😂

I saw a peregrine falcon out on the homestead recently, it was stunning! There are bald eagles nesting out on Keystone lake with 4 foot wingspans.

It is not as hot here as it is there, but we push 100 degrees F; this time of year. This part of Oklahoma has a lot of lakes, and is called green country. I like it here.

Cool, as I am also a Smith. Zac Smith.

I love the Pergines and we also have many here,
Here's my photo of one.
peregrine_falcon.jpg

Sadly we don't have Bald Eagles here, but we have many other species.

Nice weather and the lakes sound wonderful as they are normally a bird photographer's paradise.

Nice picture! Beautiful bird.

There are a lot of bird species as the lake is Large (500,000 surface acres) and was man made in 1960. I'm not moved yet, but it is closer now.

It is the only place I have heard bucks fighting over a doe. My place is only 1.5 acres, but I have seen 9 deer on that property. I will add a feeders, so she can watch the deer and hummingbirds. Momma has already told me the local deer are off limits, LOL. But there are a lot of them on the Corp of engineers land around the lake.

Sunday we feed again, and I will make spaghetti and garlic bread. I will need to figure out something to cook to go with it.

I just found you post on your charity work, you are Busy!

Wow, those lakes will indeed make for excellent nature and wildlife shots.
So when will you then be moving there?

1.5 acres is a very nice and manageable property, as some good friends of mine also moved to a place in NY after their retirement and they are doing many great things on the property.

He is also a font of information on how to successfully manage and create income streams from various activities on the place.
His tag is @thebigsweed and his wife is @farm-mom so go and have a look at their posts.

We normally add minced meat to spaghetti, as it adds a nice meaty flavor.

Oh yes, we are busy and you can also see more of our charity posts on my alt account @combination

Cheers and !BEER

Thanks, I will go find them! The lake is s a hydroelectric power lake, also used for flood control. All the land close to the lake is Corp of Engineers land which is public use land. It will make my 1.5 acres look like 100 for survival purposes.

You other account sounds great, I'll go look there too. The photo opportunities are huge, but I'll need a better camera for some of them.

Some of the homeless are vegetarians, but I have some textured vegetable protein (tvp) that I can add for flavor and texture. They really love it, but some complain if I add mushrooms. I will cook about 10 gallons of spaghetti 🍝, and they will eat it all. The other advantage of the TVP is s that it doesn't spoil like meat, so they can take some for the next day.

Be Blessed!

🤠🍝💙

My pleasure, and I hope that you will like what you see when you go and look.
We don't have tvp over here, unless they call it something else. We do have soya products, but the people don't like the taste of it.

Cheers and thanks.

TVP works well in chili and spaghetti where the sauce carries the flavor. It has good texture, and a decent taste, and they love the chili and spaghetti I make with it. I buy it in 100 pound bags, and it will store indefinitely.

I am pushed badly for time for the next five days or so.

We also still have the rainy cold days here and everyone is saying that the seasons are getting longer. But then again, we have also recently had some nice warm days.
Soon we will be boiling again under the blazing African sun.
