Common kestrel feeding
Hello feathered friends!
The common kestrel is one of the most numerous birds of prey. It is most often seen in elevated places like power lines, trees, or poles looking around in search of prey. While hunting it usually hovers in the air 10-20m above the ground. Although I see it almost every day, it is very rare to see it with a catch. It feeds mainly on small rodents but also hunts small birds, and occasionally feeds on various large insects. For a meal, this bird caught a praying mantis. Immediately after a successful hunt, the bird started eating the praying mantis on a powerline pole.
