Common Chiffchaff

Proud to present a new bird. First it was found by my hubby. He did not know what he has captured when he went in the park for quick stroll. It appeared to be common chiffchaff. Few days later I had the pleasure to see it and to make these photos.

First I heard its sweet song. This is how I find the birds, by listening. And by observing for any movement.

We call it fir singer in our language. It can be found in coniferous trees and I guess hence its name in Bulgarian.

The birdie is small and because of its colour almost invisible among the branches and needles. It is 10-12 cm long and weighs about 7 grammes. Now you can have an idea how hard is to find it.

Once I found certain bird I know I will see it again on the same place. Especially when it comes for a small area, like our local park. Still I am amazed to find new species there. What made me even more surprised, is the hawk that my hubby saw and photographed one day. The hawk basically landed some three meters from where hubby and the dog were. This is sheer luck and I don't know if I will be so lucky too. I am sure I have seen the hawk high above the sky. But if I have a chance of a close up, that would make my day.

Till then, I am expanding my collection of bird photos. Stay tuned for more new birds photos.
