Sandpiper - Inuktitut Name - Sijjariaq

Sandpipers are a lot of fun to watch titter their way across the tundra looking for food. They are almost always plodding along pecking at the ground, picking up small bugs. Often you will spot them near... well, SAND! But lately in Nunavut, they've moved off the sandy beaches of the ocean and up into the spongey, mossy areas of the tundra.

I try to get out every day to get photographs of them, but lately the mosquitos have been so bad it's not been worth the trek. I found a bug hat to wear that I didn't know I brought up with us when we moved to Nunavut. I look forward to wearing that so I don't have to continuously douse myself in chemicals to keep the flies off. Hopefully, the bug net and a thick hoodie will suffice.

All photos are my own, taken by myself. They are taken using a Nikon P900 and a Samsung S20. Consider checking out my website, Midnight Sunsets. I'm also on Twitter and Instagram!

Great photos and how interesting to see the Inuktitut name for these birds, as well. Good luck with your battle with the bugs. I've lived in places where they were horrible and I sympathize!
Thanks for posting to the #featheredfriends community,
