A Pied Crow (Corvus albus) Attacking a Jackal Buzzard (buteo rufofuscus) and African harrier-hawk (Polyboroides typus)
It has been two or three weeks now that a crow has been attacking various birds of prey. Early yesterday morning I heard the loud noises of bird of prey very close. I was stunned. I ran as quick as possible to get my camera and started taking photographs. My equipment is not the best, it is what it is. On our roof sat an African harrier-hawk (Polyboroides typus). I couldn't snap any photographs of him/her on the roof because it saw us. But I got one photograph of him/her in the tree nearby. I looked to the other side and to my surprise there was a Jackal Buzzard (buteo rufofuscus). I just started taking photographs and I saw that it wasn't happy. It "shouted" the whole time. Only afterwards did I saw that I captured the crow in one of the photographs as well! It was truly a lucky shot. I also tried to snap some pictures of the Buzzard flying away, but my cheap lens could not grab the autofocus sweet spot. I got two nice shots, and two of them were out of focus but they are kind of artistic! In any case, please enjoy this rare glimpse of these birds in the suburban area!
