The Blue Jays Are Feeling More At Home
As my title says, the blue jays are feeling more at home in the yard. I was checking on the bunnies for my daughter and when I turned around this blue jay was right behind me. I guess it was a little curious but as I stepped forward it flew off and perched on the fence in the yard.
I've been lucky in that he or she stayed on the fence for a minute or two and it wasn't the only bird this week to decide to perch on a fence in the yard. I'll save the other bird for another post though.
Now, even though he stayed on the fence for a minute or two, he was still hopping around quite a bit.
Did I mention it was really windy out?! This photo gave me a laugh! Got his feathers all in a ruffle...lol!
The wind settled down a bit and I was able to get a couple more shots off before he decided to fly off. I say he but it could be a she. The male and female blue jay look very much alike except the male is a little larger than the female.
This is my last photo for todays post along with an edit. I did get some other photos of the blue jays and had something funny happen that made me think that these blue jays have not only great eyesight but great hearing as well. I'll be saving that story for another post also but I do think I'm gonna need another bird feeder for these new blue feathered friends that I have here!
Thank you @melinda010100 for #featheredfriends!!

Thank you very much @c0ff33a!! 🤗 🙂
I like blue jays, they are colorful and fuzzy.
Thanks so much @teenagecrypto!! They are indeed! 🙂
Great photos! They are such a gorgeous color and have colorful personalities as well! Love the one with his feathers all messed up!

Thank you very much Melinda!! I love that one too and it gave me a laugh. They are starting to grow on me more and I think they will need a bird feeder away from the other ones that I have on the side of my house. 😉 💖

Let the yelling begin. These guys have such brash voices :-). I do like their quieter MRI machine noises they make though.
Thanks @sketch.and.jam!! I've heard that and can take that more than their yelling. I think one is being more friendly cause he or she knows I will give them a peanut..lol. 😊
The noisiest time is when they make a nest with a bunch of babies nearby. You can hear a bluejay family from a mile away.
I remember when I was much younger that a blue jay dive bombed my mom and a sister because they got too close to its nest. I think one of them actually got pecked but can't remember now who it was.Turns out its nest was too close to the clothes line so my mom would wear a hat when hanging clothes for a while. 🙂
So that's why so many sports teams use bluejays as their mascott (fearsome fighting birds).
You captured great shots of the blue jay Dee. I do like the birds and they are funny to watch. They get so mad when the big raven comes by and eats the food I put out.
Thanks Jo!! They are funny to watch and I'm laughing just picturing that in my mind..lol. 🤣
Hi @deerjay, we have blue jays here but I always seem to miss them. I am told by my husband who has 'bird eyes' that they sit on the power lines outside. They are so pretty so I would love to get a close up look and take a pic if that is possible.
Hi @angiemitchell and thank you so much!! My husband is the same way..can spot things and creatures all the time that I'm oblivious to..lol. I had a hard time capturing them until I remembered that they liked peanuts. I would say to get some peanuts and throw just a couple on the ground and before long they might start chirping outside your window for more. One has been coming by quite often now because it loves the peanuts. 😉 💖
