So Close

So I just had to share that I laughed out loud today. My last post paid out today and I powered it all up. I knew I was at 99.4% of the way to dolphin this morning, so I checked after Hive Buzz had time to process all the blocks:

So close. LOL.

I haven't really had much to say of late. Sometimes my writing muse just fucks off and takes a vacation. And like, I already am a big honking weirdo that doesn't really fit in anywhere, I don't like to shitpost just for the sake of getting a post in. So it's been a whole week since I posted last (and almost a week for my alt account, @faeriestories). But this just made me laugh so hard I had to post it. No celebrations yet - but almost. 😂

I will feel very "middle class" when I reach dolphin status on Hive. I have always been lower class in life, so to reach dolphin feels like I have a proper savings account, even if the dollar value of Hive is low at the moment. And that's a very middle class thing, to have a savings account. Even if I am still struggling to pay the rent.

glasses I can't wear.jpg

I did finally get the new glasses in the mail after a month, but I absolutely can't wear them. They are worse than useless, they are painful. I assume that it's because they're progressives, and that transition spot is apparently where I look through the lens, because it just makes everything MORE blurry and warping all the time. Plus, I generally look down when I walk, and so having the up-close focus just on the bottom is like, the reverse of useful. My eyeballs actually hurt in under five minutes of having them on my face, and the pain lasts for over an hour. After five minutes of wearing.

So yeah, I need to save up some more money and buy another set of glasses. That hopefully, you know, are useful. Sigh.

Other than that, been crafting, cleaning, tending to the faeries, the garden, and the cats. :)

I'm not a big fan of my new glasses with the progressive lenses either. I'm getting used to them, but I would rather have glasses for my far vision, and another pair of glasses for the shorter distance. I can still read without glasses, so I don't need anything for that...yet.
As for being oh so close to dolphin status, I feel you on that! On the 4th of July, I powered up 15 hive to push my account over the 10 thousand mark. I really never thought I would get there until I hit about 9 thousand, then I started thinking that it was possible, and just a matter of time.

Right? I remember how long it was until I hit minnow, dolphin seemed pie in the sky almost.

It's funny how some can wear progressives and some can wear bifocals, neither can tolerate the other. I had the same problem with bifocals, can only do progressive. Never had the problem you referred to though. The sharp contrast between bifocal lenses made me nauseous. My husband wore bifocals only.

My distance vision is good so I'm just going to get them for the up close and if I have to do the taking them on and off thing instead of just wearing them all the time, that's fine. :)

Hope you will reach your dolphin status soon. A number of years back, I had new spectacles but I ended up feeling dizzy and so I decided not to wear specs at all.

Well you're almost there! The funny thing is I did not even notice I'd become a Dolphin till I looked at Hivebuzz recently; was a really nice surprise!
We're having terrible rioting and looting here after our ex president was jailed, it's been horrific, our suuburb has been spared so far. Our police and army are useless!

I don't know what your police are like but US police aren't there to keep anybody safe and usually make things worse in terms of health and safety, for those rioting and those who just live near the riots (not to mention completely peaceful protests, too). Some prime examples come to mind where that elderly gentleman in NY I think it was was approaching a cop to ask him something and they knocked him to the ground and cracked open his head, and in Portland I think it was, a little girl was going home with her parent because they lived on that block and cops pepper sprayed her in the face. So if yours are anything like ours perhaps it's better if they stay away. :/
