A Bunny Chow really is the best and is super easy to make, just hollow out a loaf of bread and fill it with a good spicy curry and wait for the gravy to soak in, really yum! Thanks for popping in @meesterboom ;)
That's what drew me, I love a spicy curry and imagining it all soaking into that crust. Mm mmm!!
You need to taste a real Durban Curry, some would call this a Mean Bunny Chow, hot but full of flavour😋
Oofty, yes. Don't suppose you happen to have a recipe? 😃
Hey @meesterboom, I do, funny I've made all kinds of curries here on Hive except Lamb or Beef, will have to make this one soon or you can show us your version ;)
Here is the basic recipe, not all the spices may be available where you live; we're fortunate in having a large number of Indian folk living in Durban so there are tons of spice shops; (this pic was pre-covid; of course I now only buy the sealed spices)
Spicy Lamb or Beef Curry
Serve as a bunny chow in hollowed out bread or with rice/ roti or flatbreads.
Fry till seeds just start popping:
Add & sautee:
Add the following & sautee:
Add the following & cook covered over low heat for approx. 1 hour:
Add:
NOTE: you may have to add a little hot water but it usually has enough liquid, don't want a watery curry.
Garnish with Fresh Cilantro and spoon into hollowed out half/ quarter loaf bread. Use cut out piece of bread as 'lid'
ENJOY!
Forgot to add, use a heavy bottom pot, must be on low heat once it's cooking
Awesome stuff!! I will make this. We have loads of Indian profile and stores selling everything here so good for the spices. Thank you, I'm following also for all the good things! :0)
Thank you @meesterboom, you're sure to see much food here, hope you enjoy it😋
