Happy Forever - Never Mind What Happens

If you could go back in time and change one thing in your life, what would it be?

My life has been so wonderful that I would change absolutely nothing about it. I have been happy. though I have had many difficulties and sad moments in my life, but that is what life is all about. The things that happen to us are not always good, they have their heartaches, their joys, sadness, disappointments, challenges and so many things that are just part of lifelong learning.

When things happened to me that I did not expect or that were not among my plans, I simply prepared myself physically and mentally to face the new challenges. Sometimes I would cry and get a little angry, but I would not let such things disgrace my life. I would take advantage of the new learning and when I looked back I could see that what I wanted to do and didn't do. sometimes resulted in something better, and many times it wasn't any good and I just laughed and did something different.

I got married very young, I was living in England, studying science, and my husband was studying electrical engineering. I loved that country, I liked the antiques, the beautiful landscapes, the English culture, etc. I identified with everything. I enjoyed everything, nothing bothered me and my desire was to do other studies, to travel a lot, to have my children in that nation and to educate them in the English way.

Things changed with time. My husband wanted to return to Venezuela and have his children there, he wanted them to be Venezuelan. He did not want to stay in a country being a foreigner because he would never be English or Venezuelan. My husband was not willing to change his native culture or pretend to love English culture.

It was a difficult situation as I had to choose between my husband and a nation. I loved my husband and was not willing to lose him. He was a good and intelligent man and valued me as a woman. I continued my studies, and when he finished his we decided to return home. He gave his reasons for returning and I gave mine for staying in London. I never felt that I was a loser. Life was very good to us in Venezuela. It hurt a lot to leave a whole life behind, but I got over it quickly and gain many beautiful things.

In Venezuela we had 5 beautiful children, all boys. We raised them together the best we could. Being parents was a wonderful experience that made it impossible to think about what it would have been like in England. I understood a great lesson. It is not where you live but how you choose to live. Today I have 4 grandchildren and one of my sons lives in Monterrey, Mexico.

Life goes on, no matter what happens along the way, so we must enjoy it. For me it has always been important to love people and serve others and that has helped me feel that I have done the right thing all the time. There has been no room for recriminations, hatred and resentment. Death, deseases, economical problems, failures, losses are part of life, and if we had to live them it is good we had the opportunity to go through them.

All the pictures belongs to my family album. The main photo was edited in Adobe Spark Post.

What a beautiful family you have. We all have many choices to make as we travel the path of life and it sure seems that you have made many good ones.
I know that many people living in Venezuela are experiencing hardships that I can only imagine.
I hope all is well with you and your family.
Wonderful post.

Thanks for your words. Sometimes things depend on the attitude people have. In Venezuela you are bad if you pay attention to the complaints of certain people, but if you choose to make things work you will be ok. My family is well.

Hello @ladyfont. Difficult decision you had to make. Love and home is where the person you love is, no matter what country it's in. You made a beautiful home together with your spouse.

You raised handsome young men.

You are lucky to have found your soul mate. May you live many more years together.

Take care.
