Forest Camping; Bonding with nature even at Night.
Many childhood wishes do end up as something dumb when we browse through those memories as an adult.
Sometimes, we feel like "Did I really make these wishes?".
Yes, we did
But, it's not completely our fault because many of those wishes were influenced by our limited understanding, cartoons, fairytales and others. For instance, building a snowman was something I wanted to try as a kid even though it never snowed in my country before. I always talked about it with my friends as if I was very certain that it would snow someday. As I grew older, I realised building a snowman wasn't much of a big deal and I can easily do that if it snows but being a child, I always dreamt of doing it.
As silly as many of those wishes were, there are still the relevant ones that I want to do as an adult.

I love hanging out in nature and spending time with nature has been one of the ways I help myself mentally. It's not a thing that started today, I love going to the river and walking in farms because these things make me feel good but I didn't understand what it was.

From seeing movies and reading magazines, I desired to do more with nature. I see people camp in the woods far away from the city noise for days, breathing fresh air, meditating and connecting with nature so I started desiring it as well.
I was a teenager then but wasn't silly not to understand the risk of doing that in my country. If people can disappear in public and never be found again in broad daylight, camping in the woods will be a very terrible mistake.
In 2007, during the school long vacation. I joined some church youth who went to the beach. I was a teenager and my mom didn't want me to join them because they weren't returning that day.
I was so adamant about going with them and when a few people got involved, she didn't have a choice. She handed me over to the youth leader and I was excited.
It was my first time at the beach and it didn't look like in the pictures and movies. There were boats, fishing nets, damaged huts, plastic waste and others, the location was Badagry. I didn't let those things bother me as I ran back and forth with the wave and chased crabs till dark.
Later that night, things turned around quickly. I noticed the population there was increasing and was told that people crash there at night.
We laid mats, had dinner and I saw our youth leader digging the sand.
"What's that for?", I asked with so much curiosity.
"To hide the valuable things we have", he replied.
I was surprised because I never imagined that the beach wouldn't be a safe place. The next morning, we heard complains about people being robbed and since then, I haven't passed the night at the beach.
Yeah, insecurity is a big issue here and camping in the woods could see me getting kidnapped or something else might just happen. I have read about resorts in Nigeria and I can only trust what happens during the day. The evil that lurks around in the dark still scares me but camping in the woods some day probably with my family or friends will be a great deal for me.
If just spending a few hours in nature makes me feel great, I wonder what the effect of spending 2-3 days there would be on me.
Even if I can eventually find myself in a place where doing these things aren't life-threatening, it would be stressful for to me always move back and forth, so I will prefer to own a property surrounded by nature. A tree house, a cottage in the woods or at the ocean side would be enough for me to feel refreshed always and get the best of nature every time.
I hope I haven't bored you with my stories. In a nutshell, camping in the woods is something I have always wanted to do but can't do due to reasons beyond my control.
It is my first time participating in the community prompt and I look forward to participating in more prompts plus engaging with other members of the community.
I wished to do with overnight camping by the lake but it's impossible for me to do that here since i can't stay overnight outside... Meanwhile, I don't feel safe camping in our place in my country 😅.. As you said, there might possibility to be kidnapped lol. Maybe it's fine in other province
Yeah, it looks like we face security issues in different parts of the world and it is too dangerous for a woman to be all by herself in the woods
I hope I can make this happen someday, it will be amazing.
Hi there George, good to see you over here at the Silver Bloggers Community...
It's a pleasure that you want to take part in our "Library of Wisdom and Fun"! But there is always a but 😏 - i personally got the feeling that you are a "youngster" compared to what we "have set" as an average age we would like to have in our community.
We do suggest, that this is not quite a fit and/or not a topic that jives for us. May i ask you to go and read what we are all about, maybe you'll find yourself, that the Silver Bloggers Community doesn't fit your preferred topics?! No worries, there are many more in the Hive, you'll find a complete list on Hives Communities Page.
Though you are always welcomed, like our grand children are. Thank you for your understanding!
Thanks for the information, I know about the age limit and I am whole decade away from my forties but was inspired to write because this is something I have always want to write about.
I appreciate your swift response, thanks a lot.
So be inspired to write in a community that fits the subject....

Meh when we where little we wished for so many abstract stuffs but now we are older we understand better
That's childhood for us, we see things from a different angle at that age and we make silly wishes. We are grown now and things are different.
Overnight camping in the "woods" of the country is the best way to be called to eternal glory so it's certainly not something I would try for any reason but there's always this longing wish to do that, you know. Just feel at warmth with nature.
It's too bad we can't do many of those things but it's still a plan of mine.🤗
Came in as a #dreemerforlife
The country is not in a good shape for such adventure and since we have that on our to do list, we can make this happen to together someday outside the borders of this land.
It would be an amazing adventure with friends and family. Thanks for the visit my teammate, you are awesome.
#dreemerforlife
You are awesome as well. Maybe we can set up something like that Georgie, with friends and all.🌺
I also missed many opportunities to join the tour because my mom thought the night stay wasn't safe. I don't blame my mom for it because I know she is concerned about me. Nothing more.
I also have a plan like you. After that, we can get some time to interact with nature without any worries.
I actually thought she was too protective but she was don't everything for my good. It would be an amazing experience bro, living in the woods or by seaside will be fantastic.
LoL you have mind I can't do that staying at the beach overnight where there is no one to protect me or a roof to cover danger hmmmm I wouldn't try that even if the trip is free
#dreemerforlife
Lolz, it shouldn't be a dangerous thing but the world is evil and it's annoying how people take advantage of things they shouldn't.
If the world was going, spending time in nature anytime or wherever you want should be a problem... The wild is a no-entry for me though.
I say, sure, wishes can be a childhood thing, but it's good to have those wishes and dreems.
As a Kid, I would build snow men, each time it snowed. Later, when my girls were born, I helped them, too. Even as an older man, its still fun! Someday, I hope you build your snowman!
Wow, that's beautiful. I wasn't seeing it as something fascinating anymore but it's something I will still love to do someday.
Thanks a lot sir.
It's really an amazing experience to camp out all night, just you and your family all through the night with the Woods and cool breezes accompanying the calm dancing of trees but well, our country don't allow us enjoy that.
Hopefully one day our security might be strong enough to allow us experience that nature.
#marathon @dreemerforlife #dreemport
Yeah, it would be a lovely experience if our security was good enough for something of such.
Such experience would remain my favourite till the end of time, I am always at my full functionality when nature is involved
Heheh... Nature is beautiful no doubt
I’ve always been curious about camping in the woods too but the kind of places we find ourselves from where we come from is very different from abroad. I never imagined people dig in the beach to hide their stuff.
#dreemerforlife #teamflash
Yeah, the situation of the country doesn't permit such experience but someday, I hope we will be able to have the experience someday.
