Two (Good) Fire Night
As I wrote the title of this post, it occurred to me that if I didn't give it a positive spin, and after the spate of fires over the Iast couple of years, I might have given some folk a start. So, no, I am talking about Saturday (and some other) evenings in winter.
We have two fires: one inside and one out. One for heating and one for cooking.
With a feline underfoot. Well, actually, given half a chance, he's onfoot...
Pork neck chops and salad. Avo is a winter fruit for us, and C had some perfect specimens at the market yesterday morning. So this salad was dressed with fresh lime juice, olive oil and fresh dhanya (aka coriander aka cilantro).
That was last night after a day that was colder and wetter than anyone expected. Today's going to be similarly cold and the raingods are not sharing their plans. My plans revolve around a cauldron, citrus and marmalade. Partly because I am short of stock (four jars sold at the market yesterday), partly because citrus season has begun and mainly because someone has ordered six to send to Maastricht. Good weather for sweating standing over a hot gas stove!

Yay!!! Love the new profile picture!!! And I love your fireplace too!!! I’m so jealous. We are looking at have an inside fireplace installed in the next month hopefully. It’s just too freezing cold 🥶 I’ve also been making jam out of my many many many guavas off my tree so tomorrow will be jam day again. Now I need to look for some more jars.
Thank you! I am fortunate that folk bring me jars that I repurpose. The cleaning is a mission but I have learned to sort them when they arrive.
