Friday Files: Cheat's Chicken Pie after a big Chop

Yesterday's list was relatively short but the cook was long. French onion soup is both a lot of chopping and a lot of cooking.

Worth every minute for developing the flavour.

The result, four jars of soup that is entirely plant-based. Today's market is going to start off cold and heat up. A lot.

For supper, after that, cheat's chicken pot pie which is basically leftover chicken, gravy and onion marmalade with a (bought) puff pastry lid. Served with leftover roasted pumpkin on top of wilted Swiss chard from the garden.

Lastly, Rambo.

He's been in the wars after having been AWOL. Covered in scratches, limping on a big foot. Now he's a cross between velcro and a permanent shadow, wailingif he cannot locate one of the staff. Much to The Husband's surprise, he's ccepting antibiotics (and regular inspections) from The Cats' Mother with no quibble. THAT appointment is two weeks away...

Until next time, be well

I would certainly not call that a cheat pie, looks so good with those veggies as well.
What we had last night was a cheat pie, pepper steak from the Woolies food shop nearby, I just wasn't in the mood for any take-away which has become our Friday night meal; big cheat I am on Fridays;)
I would have settled for your French Onion Soup and Sourdough rolls if I lived in McGregor; lucky people!
Have a wonderful weekend further, and rest now!

Thank you for that! Pastry is such hard work...

It was the best market in a long, long time. Sold all the soup and rolls and 7 jars of marmalade.

It's really strange that the village was so full. Last weekend was dead. Anyhow, I am not complaining!
