Only Needed One

It's the time of year that the ducks lay, and a friend has far too many for her own use. It's no secret that we enjoy eggs, so I jumped at the chance.

Also. After a lull, we've had mushrooms come up again. Just when one stops checking the mushroom patch. Yes, it's always the same spot. There have been two this week, but I only needed one for this take on an old favourite: egg and chips.

Left over boiled potatoes, sauteed, sauteed mushrooms with green peas (soon we shall be picking ...) and mint. All topped with a poached duck egg.

Comfort food. I admit to making sure that the tomato (ketchup) sauce escaped the photos... Yes, for my South African friends, it is always and forever All Gold.

Lastly, and reflecting why comfort food was the order of the day.

Almost yin and yang. It's only when it's cold that this happens and it's the closest the Princess Pearli and Gandalf come to cuddling.

Haha there are two things I admit to using (yep All Gold's the best) Tomato Sauce with, and that's eggs and potato chips or wedges, but I still have not had duck's eggs! Growing your own peas, that's great!

That duck egg looks gigantic. I've got a feeling that eggs may be on the menu for tonight. With @farm-mom back in Jersey, it's eggs or PBJ for me. Now, if I had some of those spuds and a small chunk of that mushroom, that would be a meal fit for a king.

Those eggs are divine and the flavour of that mushroom beyond imagining. The Husband would have liked a steak. He would most certainly approve of @farm-mom's suggestion 😆
