What's up folks? welcome to a new post, this time I drew Darth Vader using a reference image, before starting to explain the process let me tell you that I thought it would be a simple drawing something easy, but it wasn't, it was much more difficult than I thought, it had a lot of shadows and weird light effects, it also made it difficult to achieve a little bit the shape of the mask because of the quality of the reference image, it was a little blurry.

Que pasa compañeros como estan? sean bienvenidos a un nuevo post, esta ocasión que dibujar Darth Vader utilizando una imagen de referencia, antes de comenzar a explicar el proceso déjenme decirles que pensaba que seria un dibujo simple algo fácil, pero no fue así, fue mucho mas difícil de lo que creía, tenia muchas sombras y efectos raros de luz, también de me hizo difícil lograr un poquito la forma de la mascara por la calidad de la imagen de referencia, estaba algo borrosa.

I started to make the sketch at 11 o'clock at night, that's why the first images are a bit yellow, once I finished the sketch I passed it to digital the next day to start making the lineart, these drawings of masks are quite tedious in terms of lineart, have too many figures and weird and complicated shapes, in spite of that, I got a good sketch and a lineart quite similar to Darth Vader, normally I don't add many shadows to the lineart but in this part I did have to, it looked very ugly and flat without the shadows.

El boceto lo comencé a realizar a las 11 de la noche, por eso las primeras imágenes están algo amarillas, una vez termine el boceto lo pase a digital al día siguiente para comenzar a realizar el lineart, estos dibujos de mascaras son bastante tediosos en cuestión de lineart, tienen demasiadas figuras y formas raras y complicadas, a pesar de eso, conseguí un buen boceto y un lineart bastante parecido a Darth Vader, normalmente no añado muchas sombras al lineart pero en esta parte si tuve que hacerlo, se veía bien feo y plano sin las sombras.

By the way, when I'm drawing I always make a folder with the black drawing to click and have the part I want to draw selected, so I save a lot of time, although I'm having problems because of the amount of layers I use now.

Por cierto, cuando estoy dibujando siempre hago una carpeta con el dibujo en negro para clickear y que se seleccione la parte que quiero dibujar, así me ahorro bastante tiempo, aunque estoy teniendo problemas por la cantidad de capas que ahora uso.

Well, there is not much to say about painting, basically it was to use shades of gray to black, look I recommend that if you are going to draw something in black, start with a base color gray to add the necessary shadows and achieve a good effect, if you start drawing with black it will look very ugly, at least in my opinion and also depends a lot on the type of painting.

Bueno de pintado no hay mucho que decir, básicamente era usar tonalidades de gris a negro, miren yo les recomiendo que si van a dibujar algo de color negro, comiencen con un color gris de base para que le vayas añadiendo las sombras necesarias y lograr un buen efecto, si comienzas a dibujar con color negro se vera bien feo, al menos en mi opinión y también depende bastante del tipo de pintado.

For the third time I say it in a post, I had to put shadows inside the shadows and more shadows in those shadows, without exaggerating the subject of the shadows in this drawing was quite cumbersome, due to the complicated forms that Darth Vader has, I was a good freak running and adding shadows, it sounded easy but it was quite complicated by the shade of colors, after a while and creating thousands of layers of pure shadow I got the effect more like the reference image I was using.

Por tercera vez lo digo en un post, tuve que poner sombras dentro de las sombras y mas sombras en esas sombras, sin exagerar el tema de las sombras en este dibujo estaba bastante engorroso, debido a las formas tan complicadas que tiene Darth Vader, estuve un buen raro corriendo y añadiendo sombras, sonara fácil pero era bastante complicado por la tonalidad de colores, después de un rato y de crear miles de capas de pura sombra obtuve el efecto mas parecido a la imagen de referencia que estaba usando.

As for the glosses, it was also a bit complicated, again for the same reason of the complicated shapes, I put a layer with luminosity in SAI and with the watercolor brush in low opacity I made the glosses of the center of the character, the glosses of the exterior part I made them with the pen to be as faithful as possible to the reference image.

En cuanto a los brillos también estaba algo complicado, otra vez por el mismo motivo de las formas complicadas, puse una capa con luminosidad en SAI y con el pincel de acuarela en opacidad baja hice los brillos del centro del personaje, los brillos de la parte exterior los hice con el bolígrafo para ser lo mas fiel posible a la imagen de referencia.

The background was quite simple, as I only used a couple of pop colors with some dots of brightness and glitter coming from the back of Darth Vader, some people might like it, others might not, so I leave the two versions in case you want to use it for anything, one with the background and one without.

El fondo fue bastante simple, pues solo utilice un par de colores pop con algunos puntitos de brillo y resplandores provenientes de la parte trasera de Darth Vader, algunos les puede gustar a otros no, por eso les dejo las dos versiones por si la quieren utilizar para cualquier cosa, una con el fondo y otra sin.
