Hive Open Mic, week 52, River Flows In You
Welcome to week 52 of Hive Open Mic, the weekly live music event that gathers more and more participants each week. Every week there is another topic and for this week it was chosen by @natashamartinez. She said: Freedom. Nice topic.
Throughout history, freedom has always been sought among people. Oppressed by the authorities, or captured without cause. Also, women sought freedom of voice and fought for their rights. We seem to have gotten a lot of freedom in the modern age, but is that really the case? Are we really free to go where we want, to do what we feel right and enjoy things that seem normal? But aside from that, are we free from our negative attitude, bad habits or addictions?
I am sure that if we win the battle with ourselves, just then we are truly free. Just as water flows, and cannot be stopped, so our thoughts are released and flow without limits if we live in peace or freedom with ourselves. Like the river Danube that flows freely and never stops:
The choice of composition for this week is River Flows In You. It is one popular work among young pianists, written by Yiruma. He is a South Korean contemporary pianist and composer, and his real name is Lee Ru-ma (Yiruma is his artistic name).
The structure of the composition in a short intro, verse and chorus, repeated both with some small variations, and a short closing part. The chord progression is based on four chords F# minor, D major, A major and E major. The right hand has nice passages that evoke the flow of the water, while the left hand is based on a broken chord accompaniment. Oh beautifiul @mipiano, this is one of my favorite pieces of music. I first heard it when I moved to Japan at age 11. Someone gave me a wind up music box that played this melody.
I like the metaphor of the water flowing freely as a parallel in ourselves.
I had gooosebumps listening to you play it. I thoroughly enjoyed every second of this. You play so beautifully my dear sister.

Oh, @holisticmom, I am happy that it made such a nice impact on you :) The fact you had goosebumps is surely the sign that you enjoy this song and that my interpretation was not so bad heheh :D You know, at least a half of my students, when in tennager age, ask to play this song. Everyone loves it and we played it with so many dear students that I know it almost with closed eyes 😌 But just almost... I didn't want to risk for the recording.

Pero @lecumberre, qué comentario más bonito acabo de recibir de Usted 😌. Me alegra el día ver que me escuchan y que la interpetación dejó este efecto en el público. Cada palabra es como aplauso, lo que ahora echamos tanto de menos por no poder tener conciertos en vivo y tener presentes las parsonas a quien tocamos. Pues sí que tenemos, aunque en esta forma, la música llega al alma de los oyentes 🎶🎶

Yes, I feel you're right that freedom is a personal quest, and the ultimate restriction and limitation in life is our own thoughts. Our thoughts can be our prison or our freedom, I am more than convinced in that, so yes, that was my initial idea about the topic...and observing water and it's flow, it's ability to always find a way to go, and be free just lead to the choice of this indeed beautiful piece of music. Muchas gracias @alinares, voy a necesitar esta bendición. Me pasa algo raro con la manos desde ayer, unos hormigeos y dolor, espero que no es otra vez el tunel carpiano, que lo empezó en una forma leve hace unos años... Puedo tocar, pero siento las mismas síntomas :(
Vaya! Eso si está malo, Dios permita que no pase a mayores y que puedas sanar cualquier complicación que se pueda presentar. Espero cada semana tu música, así que realmente te deseo que estés bien

Esta es una de mis canciones preferidas en el piano, incluso suelo tocarla a veces pero de una manera un poco mas simple ¡me gusto! :3 en alguna semana se que haré algo junto con el piano, para ver si te agrada como a mi me gusta tu interpretación al tocar, saludos!! @mipiano

Oh por Dios, me has hecho llorar pero mucho mi reina, este tema me conecta muchísimo con una de mis hermanas, de hecho fue la que se crió conmigo, mientras tocabas reviviste muchos momentos de mi infancia con ella, son los mejores momentos que he guardado con esa hermana. Ella esta muy lejos de mi y tengo casi 5 años que no la he podido volver a abrazar, y escuchar esta obra me hizo sentir que estaba conmigo. Gracias por compartirla. Que maravillosa es la música. Estuvo hermoso, felicidades.
Querida @mariajruizb , me alegro mucho que has podido disfrutar con esta melodía, aunque puede ser que trajó un poco de tristeza o melancolia..🤗 Yo también vivo lejos de mi familia, la última vez nos hemos visto era el verano de hace dos años, puedo entender tus empociones ahora. La música sí que es para esto, depsertar sentimientos y tocar el corazón de alguien.

Oh my God! in my effort to try and see as much entries as i can, i almost miss yours!It has happened again, im hearing you play and my eyes get wet, and it´s my first time listening to this song, but this piece has a very emotive melody, i admire piano music very much because i think it has a powerful way to transmit emotions and feelings, and you truly are such a good musician, because you channel the energy of the music through your instrument beautifully and your performances reach the heart directly, you achieve what i think is the ultimate goal of any musician: making the listener feel emotions... Ha sucedido de nuevo, te escucho tocar y mis ojos se humedecen, y es la primera vez que escucho esta canción, pero esta pieza tiene una melodía muy emotiva, admiro mucho la música de piano porque creo que tiene una forma poderosa de transmitir emociones y sentimientos, y realmente eres un buen músico, porque canalizas la energía de la música a través de tu instrumento maravillosamente y tus interpretaciones alcanzan el corazón directamente, logras lo que creo que es el objetivo final de cualquier músico: hacer que el oyente sienta emociones ...
