SITUATION IN NIGERIA AT THE MOMENT
Presently, I am sitting in the apartment of a friend of mine with nothing in mind to write about. The only thing is that I feel a little bit stressed out from today's activities and what I have left to touch especially in my academics.
Let's just forget all that and discuss a little bit about Nigeria, since this post is being published in Hive Naija community. I came up online to check what was going on this morning through my whatsapp statuses and I got to understand that twitter has been banned in the country due to a threatening tweet by the President.
A particular friend of mine said that the banning is a form of actual distraction from a bigger something that they are planning down. This could be true or not but there is something that I am sure of is that a war would definitely happen in this country if things continue going the way it is.
Coming back to the twitter ban stuff in Nigeria. The ban imposed has turned many people to be making use of VPN to access twitter. But now, the government has order Prosecution of those who violates the twitter ban and still makes use of VPN to access twitter.
This doesn't even make sense to me at all; the President banning a social media because his tweet was taken down for breaking the rules, and now prosecuting people who finds other means to access it.
The thing going through my mind right now is these people are not doing anything regarding how cost of living has increased yet there are many running on the street unemployed. They are not doing anything about students who have been abducted and ransom being requested for their release but instead, a bill was passed that anybody who pays a ransom to a kidnapper would serve 15 years jail time.
I wonder where things are going to now and I just hope that things would not be worst before the next presidential election which is probably in the year 2023. Hopefully, the election would be peaceful and a younger & able person would be place on sit and not a old man who is over 80 years of age waiting for death to knock at his door.

I so much agree with his opinion. This government have a silly way of playing their shady political games. They know so well we the youths have got a voice on Twitter to reach the world. The recent EndSars Protest proved that. Its even beginning to become obvious that they are up to something. Firstly they barn cryptocurrency which was used as a means of funding during the EndSars protest, now they are suspending the operation of Twitter which was served as a tool we used to communicate to the world in order for them to come to our aid.
Mhennn, we need to be more vigilant these days. I pray their evil plans get exposed before they can even think of executing it.

From the look of things the ban was not because of that single tweet. They have been looking for means to silence people since the EndSars protest, this is the opportunity they have been looking for.
Notice how fast it was for them to restrict twitter, they haven't been that swift in making any decisions in the past.
Plus the telcos who restricted people without a court order. It shows there's more to this than meets the eye
Yeah, definitely, it was the perfect opportunity they had. then that means something up is coming that they want to take away the chance in which the youth would have to fight back.
What I know is that, their evil plans would never succeed.
I hope so because they seem hell bent on making thing difficult for the citizens
I really don't like to talk about Nigeria but things are really off in this country right now and we have our priorities misplaced. It is depressing. This government wants to run everything to the ground
