We can never be too careful | Just be a step ahead of that scammer

avatar

I will tell you this for free - you are up against a bunch of shameless hoodlums that would stop at nothing to get what they want. In this case, all they want is your money.

hacker-3081816_1280.jpg

They've got no chills and they don't care about rotting in hell. Their only concern is to make you their ATM (cash dispenser) and to milk all your hard-earned money.

Normally, they will sweet talk you and try to earn your trust before showing their hand but never be tempted to take their hand. It's like opening the front door for a thief - it never ends well!

FTR, the normal me would most likely select a community and headline after drafting and editing a post, but this is different. I just knew from the onset that this is going straight to Hive Naija Community" and here we are.

What Do You Know About Scammers?

By definition, a scammer is someone who makes money using illegal methods, especially by tricking people - Cambridge Dictionary.

These people are everywhere and they take pride in doing their shady hustle. They operate via various methods, both physically and virtually and a whole lot of them are doing their bidding internationally. They explore various faceless forums like Twitter and Instagram to sell their folktales to those that are ready to listen to them.

I can recall a story about an unidentified Nigerian prince that took $4500 from a foreign lover and vanished into thin air.

scam-3629263_1280.png

According to the lady that fell for the scam, she lamented that her lover, the supposed Nigerian prince, needed money urgently and promised to pay back shortly with extra bucks. One thing led to another, she did the transaction in good fate and that was how our her prince went missing in action. His account became unaccessible, contacts became unreachable, checkmate! Eh?

Now, that's a typical example of how a scam works. They come as lovers, business partners, icon of generosity, needy person, anything!

How Vulnerable Are You To Scammers?

Scammers are among the set of people we should never pray to get involved with. You may be thinking that it can't happen to you but you will be the one passing judgement on you if you ever fall victim to their schemes. Remember, hearing the ill-fated experience that victims had with scammers shouldn't count as a criterion to call them illiterates, outdated or dumb. They were just unlucky.

That is why l always advise people to guide themselves jealously especially whenever they notice a red flag about anyone that is getting closer to them. If not for yourself, it would be nice to do that for the sake of those that will be hurt due to news of your exposure to scammers.

Well, since they operate via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and even places like this, what if we get rid of our accounts and lock ourselves in our tiny world? That works, right? You can also choose to conduct a KYC (know your customer) on anyone that jumps into your DM to say Hi.

Anyone that does any of those wouldn't be considered paranoid by me. After all, they know what they stand to lose if they get victimized.

mental-illness-4364348_640.png

People lose their life savings to scammers, incur debt as a means of survival, get chased around by loan sharks and mortgagees. By the end of the day, some give up on life while some just live every day as if it's their last.

Note, scamming is also done physically by either strangers or those around us. Nowhere is safe from the eagle eye of these scammers and we can never be too careful in our attempt to escape from their grip. All we need to do is to double-check before doing anything to avoid regret.

What Is The Fate Of Scammers?

I will be very clear and blunt!

Anyone that scams people will always meet a bigger scammer and the bigger scammer will meet another bigger scammer. That's how the cycle will be until they face the sword of lady Justice.

Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop Or Comma

Can this post be read by every individual in this world? Is that possible? Because the words written in this post is for every person, both the scammers and those who are scammed or could be scammed.

I couldn't agree more with you about the reward scammers will get sooner or later, their evil deeds can't go unpunished. Taking a hard earned money can be really heartbreaking to the victim.

I just hope I remember always to double check and be careful even when I can't be too careful to ward off scammers.

Nice post, kudos to you 👍 😊

That seems to be the most suitable reward for these scammers and l believe they need to have a taste of their own medicine. That should be enough to get into the head of those that are planning to join their trail.

Yeah, double checking is important. Things can still go wrong when we are too careful so, our protection is in God's hands

Oooops a nigerian prince! I think their is democracy in nigeria ☺. Am I right?
This post reminded me of our chancellor. It can never be said that only illiterate would fall victim. In fact I am really afraid of judging people as the life may. Turn the same face on me.
Sometimes our greed, sometimes our innocence, sometimes ignorance and carelessness make us the victim of these scammers. Whatever is the reason those who are scammed are unlucky and that can be anyone

Like you said, nobody is exempted from their eagle eyes so all we have to do is to be careful at all times to avoid falling victim to their acts.

Those who have witnessed this would never want to pass through it again. Those that are yet to witness it also needs to be careful

(Edited)

Exactly why I blocked my mother on whatsapp , she just sent a message saying " Hi" I know a scammer message when I see it. Although I was a bit confused as to why Gmail sent the email for my 18million pounds inheritance to spam.

I can't agree with you more. but you already know this.

I'm 1000% nodding my head. All that we can do is be wary - and not make any excuse, any apology, any guilt for feeling this way.

When they steal from you - they won't even have the decency to blush. They'll just take and then get angry at you for confronting - if you have the opportunity.

I just saw a video of two women on the beach, stealing a beach tent from a family.
They waited until they thought no one was around. the man came by and started videotaping them taking his stuff - he was laughing thinknig - they were caught redhanded.

don't you know???
they tried to say "no this is their stuff"

hahahahaha
he said what? this is mine.

they said - oh.. even this? and this??
LOLOLOL can you imagine the audacity???

and THEN. he was tired of their nonsense - and they got nasty with him and said - PUT THAT CAMERA AWAY AND STOP RECORDING OR I'LL THROW IT INTO THE GRASS. LOL

as if they had some authority!

thieves. they are a special breed of stupid.

Lolll... When adults can openly sin and claim to be right, it makes you to wonder how they would be bringing up a young kid under their watch.

Imagine the audacity displayed by those thieves. That's insane. It's also ridiculous. What a world!

Whenever you think that you've seen it all in this world, you just get to hear of another unbelievable thing.

All these for what? Just because of greed and uncultured attitude. The worst part of this is that these people do not care about ruining their reputation.

Loll... May God save us all

oh please don't let them procreate and turn perfectly innocent children into reflections of them.

LOLOL
let's just encourage them to continue to be selfish and focus all their attention on them - so they won't be tempted to bring more of them into the world! hahahahah

greed - what a vice!

Hahah... Seems like we are on a mission to save the next generation from these evil beings 😂.

Okay, this will be well executed.

Leaving a finely created baby under the care of such parents is an unimaginable thing to do. Unfortunately for all, these kids would have to start seeing eyesore from a very tender age.

Have you seen the series Lucifer? He draws out people's desires and I think it's similar to what scammers do, they capitalize on either your fear or your desires.

That's why even when they don't come as Nigerian prince and they come as bank customer service people still fall for it. People's life savings are mostly in the bank and when they are told that anything is threatening the safety of that savings, they lose focus.

we can never be too careful in our attempt to escape from their grip. All we need to do is to double-check before doing anything to avoid regret.

Indeed one can never be too careful, especially since the scammers devise new means on a daily basis.

I believe anyone that's comfortable robbing another person of their hard earned money with feeling remorseful, is capable of killing that person.

These scammers would do anything in order to achieve what they want. Killing someone is no different for them.

Hearing about those that got scammed will always make it very easy for us to see what they could have done to avoid falling victims to the scam, but not many people would be able to look the other way. That's where greed comes in.

The scammers know what people need and they can use it to entice us into falling for their antics. It's ridiculous but that's it.

We just need to be careful to avoid falling victim to them

That's where greed comes in.

Oh this one is another icing on the cake. hearing the stories of some people who got scammed, you will just know it is because of greed. That is why they were not able to identify the missing dots.

Anyway, we just have to be careful in all our doings.
