My Introduction to Hive Nigeria. @theycallmedan #mycountry Initiative

Hello hivers, first, I appreciate @theycallmedan for coming up with this brilliant idea to promote Hive in countries. I joined Steem/Hive over 2 years ago, and I have been a silent Steemian/Hiver.

I am Dare Collins. I am a Technical builder. I am married with 2 children. I am from Nigeria. A country full of blessings.

Nigeria is full of diversity and wonders. There are different continents, countries, cities, places and cultures in the world, yet all exist at its own pace. That makes them amazing.

Nigeria is a country of diversity in culture, economy and the rest. It is a country on the African continent. We are known as the blacks. We have about six geopolitical zones with about 260 tribes and 3 major ethnic groups, which are, the Yorubas, Hausas and Igbos, their cultures are well represented by their cultural dishes, dressing, language, music, lifestyle, etc.

Nigeria has one of the most wonderful weather, which is not hazardous to humans, animals and agriculture.

Hausa

HAUSA

In Hausa's ethnic group their greeting goes in line with morning, afternoon and night hours. In the morning they say inakwana, in the afternoon they say inawuni and in the evening they say Barka da yarma. They also have special local dishes like Tuwo shinkafa, Tuwo masara, and Tuwo dawa all these go with other local soups e.g. Miyan kuka, etc.

Their dressing is usually bogus top over trousers called Babariga, Jalabia and Juami. These are common among the men while women dress in nice decent attire with materials called Ankara, and it is normally sown as gown and skirt. This dress always looks unique on them and makes it easy to identify their tribe.

The Hausas lifestyles are very simple. They don’t wear expensive clothes. They live in cheap houses and most of then are friendly. Though some parts of these people are the ones that form up the Terrorist in Nigeria because of their lack of Education. They are the Almanjiries who beg for food on the street. This is also the most populous tribe because they don’t have control for birth.

Yoruba

YORUBA

The Yoruba’s are wonderful too. Our greetings also vary with time. The mornings we say Ekaro, in the afternoon we say Ekasan and in the evenings, Ekuirole. They also have a posture in greeting as men they lie down flat as a sign of respect, while the girls kneel to greet.

Our cultural foods are Ofada rice with Ofada sauce, Amala and Ewedu, etc. Our cultural attire is known as Sokoto and agbada for male and Iro and Buba for women. It’s a prestigious attire normally wore for special occasions.

The Yorubas are lovely people in Nigeria. I am not trying to make bold claims becuase I am Yoruba, but we have never cause problems for the country. We are smart and creative people. We love Education and always create value within our means. However, we like flashy life. Yorubas party hard, especially the women.

Igbo

IGBOS

The Igbos are the third ethnic groups from the eastern part of the country. They also have a style of greeting in the morning they say Ututuoma, in the afternoon Ehiheoma, and the evening Abalioma.
They also have their cultural dishes. E.g. Abacha popularly known as African salad, Akpu {fufu}.I also like this food, and I am proud of it.

Igbos lifestyle is grand. They are seen as the business gurus. Igbos are smart and lovely people. They have the zeal to work and acquire huge wealth. They also love Education, but not like the Yorubas.

Culture and Festival

Osun

We are still practising some ancient beliefs in the country. Technology and improvement have crashed many beliefs, but some are still happening in Nigeria in a very fun way.
I will focus more on my side of the country, Yorubas. There is Osun Osogbo festival which is done once a year to appease the Sea god. The god is known to be child giver and blessing giver. Many people used to come around the world to attend the Osun Osogbo festival every year. It is a fun place to go to. I have been to Osun, but not when they are doing the festival.

Economy

ECONOMY

The socio-economic aspects of my country are very interesting.
Nigerians are social people, versatile in mixing up with people of diverse. We are very good and friendly people who correlate internationally. My country is not hostile, we are easy-going and adventurous, always trying to work things out.

Our economy is also an excellent one. Nigeria is blessed with many natural resources like crude oil, ore, cocoa, coal, limestone, etc. These are things countries and people look out for, but I am privileged to be a citizen of this great country with many endowments.

My major regret as a Nigerian is in the aspect of leadership. My country has been barely fortunate to be led by good leaders, who have the extreme interest of the nation in their heart, rather most of our leaders have been corrupt, from one to another. Despite the natural endowment that has been well utilized to elevate the suffering and poverty level in the country, most of the leaders only manoeuvred their way into leadership positions to exploit the economy and loot government funds.

If Nigerian leaders are transparent much would have been done by now, making our country one of the best in the world, but presently, the reverse is the case, and this has been a major challenge to every Nigerian who has the country in mind to be one of the best.
