Everything Changes | 万物无常
Since we have been playing photogames these days, some photography-related exhibitions came to my mind. Today I'm showing you one that I visited in Newcastle Art Gallery, Australia.
The solo exhibition is called Everything Changes, bringing together selected artworks from 2002 to 2017 by multimedia artist Tim Maguire. He is not only a painter but also a printmaker and photographer. So he combined digital photography, painting, and a three-color separation process derived from printmaking.
He first took photos of nature and then separated the photos into three individual images in cyan, magenta, and yellow, the basic colors used for printing.
He printed each of these three colors in layers and applied them individually on a large background. When applying the color layers, he splashed solvent with a broad brush across the freshly painted surfaces to make them luminescent. As some of the canvases are massive, he had to use scaffolding at times.
The artist sought to capture and enhance the depth of field, as well as light and objects' reflections in his works. The results looked very interesting to me. I liked the theme of passing time and transience presented in these artworks. It's also inspiring to see how the artist embraced technology and explored new ways to push the boundaries of his practice.
这次来分享一个在澳洲纽卡斯尔画廊看到的展览,名为“万物无常”,作者是多媒体艺术家Tim Maguire。他把摄影、绘画和印刷技术结合起来,创造了我照片中的这些作品。

It is very interesting the technique that the artist combines, it is inspiring and creative. All the works you show are wonderful, I like one of the last photographs that resembles the galaxy, it makes you believe that you are in space.
True! I also feel that one is like the galaxy. =)
Yay some more art. I need to remember the name Time Maguire. That is some beautiful art.
Yeah, and it's Tim. I guess you got auto-corrected when typing. I first thought you were talking about Time Magazine... 😂
That is funny. Yes Tim.
