Hey World! Hive Says Hi
Hello, World! Greetings from the UAE!
My name is Arlyn, a Filipino expatriate living here in Abu Dhabi, UAE for the past 15 years. It's has been work-home, work-home, since then with a little leisure from time to time.
It was mid of 2017 when I started blogging in the blockchain (steemit back in the days), and I got hooked since then. Like most of the people here, the first thing that they told me was that I blog then I earn money. Yes, that is true but after some time we realize that it is not all easy money and that there is more to it than rewards. It is the community and the valuable interactions that we have here. Does anyone remember the famous adage, "I came for the rewards, I stayed for the community"? That's mainly the reason I stick to the platform. Hive is a platform built by the community, for the community.
What is Hive?
Hive is a social media platform where you can interact with the community by sharing your content, exchanging meaningful comments, and then get the opportunity to earn some cryptocurrencies.
The reason I can barely be seen in traditional social media in the past three years? It is because I found a better platform to dedicate my time and efforts in. It is Hive.
My Life With Hive
I managed three years of consistently being here, the longest inactivity was perhaps a month. Other than that, I was here through the bulls and bears and all the drama that there was.
Apart from the monetary gains, I really appreciate how the platform has helped me gain a lot of insights and information about a lot of things. It opened me to a lot of different knowledge that I'm not sure if I would stumble upon if I were not on Hive. Hey, I cannot remember knowing about Bitcoin before this! I also value the meaningful interactions I get with the people here. For me, that is the heart of Hive ❤️.
Blogging Everyday?
Why not? I love writing down my thoughts ever since -- be it on paper or some other social media -- when I found Hive I thought, if I were to pour my thoughts out, why not where it could bring "value" and where I could potentially gain value too?
Of course, there are times when I cannot blog due to IRL commitments or when I just really hit that "writer's block" but then that's a perfect time to discover other contents, and before I know it, I come across one that will give inspiration to me.
Oh, I Am Not A "Writer".
But you may be a gamer, a photographer, videographer, artist, or an investor perhaps? The Hive platform does not end with blogging. There are other activities you could do on the chain apart from blogging.
One of the things I do on-chain when I don't blog is play Splinterlands. It is a blockchain-based game where you can collect, trade, and battle cards.
Honestly, I cringe a little when I see great photographs being shared on other traditional social media platforms. My friend! Your fantastic photography deserves a better audience at Hive! Hive has a community of talented Photography Lovers, I'm sure you can easily find your spot there.
Perhaps you cannot write a blog but you can tell your stories in form of videos. There's a place for you here in Hive. 3speak and Dtube are the communities for you.
As the community comes together, they come up with brilliant ideas that benefit the lot. I'm seeing lots of artists tokenize their works - people can create and collect digital arts, through the NFT Showroom built on Hive.
Penny For Your Thoughts?
I guess, what I am trying to say is, there is (potentially) a place for anybody here at Hive. One should just have the "heart" for it. It's not to expect a lot from it (rewards-wise), but instead, just enjoy the platform and add value to it.
Your valuable content is indeed, valuable. We should not put it out there on the world wide web for free. Your thoughts, your contents could be worth that - a penny or much more. We just need to open up ourselves to this new opportunity.
Walk around the Hive platform. But try not to get overwhelmed. Get to know the community. Then maybe, you'll find a space for you and you can get settled here. There are lots of people who can help you get settled. Me included.
