COMMUNITIES BRAINSTORMING CHALLENGE BY @GUILTYPARTIES

When the question for brainstorming about communities came along in my feed, I took some time to think about it because when you get used to a certain out look and like it because it works you need to step away to see if improvement is needed.

This will be my blog with the 3 improvement ideas for hive communities.

But first what are Communities ?

This is taken directly from the Hive whitepaper and brainstorm blog :

Communities are a topical way to organize and manage the frontend-facing collation and discoverability of usergenerated content. They leverage the tag and follow features to sort, manage and thematically organize segments of content. A community is an account that is also set as a category for the content published in it. Upon its creation, a new account is generated and is then granted a modifiable label to display on the frontends. The community account itself may also opt to transact in the same way that any other account; it may post, cast votes, make transfers, and create other accounts.
Once a community is created, it may be labeled as desired and operated by its owner. Users may join communities, submit content to them, manage communities where they are set by the owner as administrators, hide undesirable submissions by muting them, give them descriptions and perform many other interactive actions with the ultimate goal of building an active and cohesive community.

With the majority of the community infrastructure based upon a layered approach and creative utilization of core blockchain features, communities are designed to be both flexible and functional. The naming of communities is not exclusive and multiple communities may have the same or similar names; their base account is set by a hive-000000 name-number naming convention. This prevents name squatting and allows any user to form a community on any topic. Where numerous similar communities are in competition, the one with the highest rate of user engagement will become the main community on its chosen topic but without disabling or otherwise harming its competition. It is important to note that communities do not generate monetary rewards for their owners and organizers by default; their value is a purely qualitative improvement to the user experience. However, frontends may augment community features with additional revenue generation capabilities.

M Y ~ P R O P O S A L

Well this is what I think I would like to see if its possible to have :

  • The communities in alfabetical order,
Great way to have a clear view and searching makes it easier.

  • The amount of community members in the list and all the community data a prospect member would need, either for blogging or to subscribe within the community in sight.

The amount of members in the list will make it easier to decide in which community you want to post your blog, the more people the more exposure OR the least people the more dedicated the members in that particular community are to vote for eachother. The road map is ofcourse yours.

  • A direct option link to go to the discord attached to the community.

Discord is joined at the hip with Hive and why not combine the fast switch to discord from there. I learned that people also think discord takes away from the blockchain Hive but if people want to earn they have to interact on Hive so I see no harm in a direct connection.

Last one but that’s just from teaching experience :

TAGS ~ there should be an order in tagging. 1st community , 2nd blog category , 3rd till 10th all the random tags available
More unity in the tags used all over Hive

I understand that for some changes I need to also adress @peakd. I don’t use the other front end. I would be grateful if you @peakd lads could look at the suggestions and when you need more info because I am not that clear don’t hesitate to leave me a comment and I will get right back to you.

In all the proposals and improvement proposition comments and blogs I saw a few suggestions I liked aswell and maybe its a good thing to add them here aswell, by putting in the blog by guiltyparties.

I invite @wesphilbin @jamerussell and @justclickindiva to seek and tell us their improvements.

Have a great sunny and brisk Sunday guys, see you later

Thanks for stopping by, its appreciated and remember focus on being creative instead of being bee-zy.

Remember we are only one comment away from eachother.

Great ideas for improvement in the Communities. I too find it difficult to locate a specific community when in Peakd. Alphabetizing them would make life a lot simpler.
