A few days ago I went to visit one of my maternal aunts, she has had some lovebirds for a couple of years now, my aunt has been breeding birds for many years if I remember correctly, she has these lovebirds which are quite peculiar and particular, why do I say they are peculiar? a few months ago last year she opened the door of the cage to these little birds so that they could fly away and live great adventures, but the extraordinary thing of all was that these birds came out of the cage and went all over the house and after a few minutes they returned to the inside of the cage.

The beautiful thing about all this, is that I had told my aunt that having these birds in cages was evil, because they were born to fly from one place to another travelling around the world, my aunt became a little sensitive and told me that she would let them go free, she did this but as I said before these birds did not leave their place nor did they leave the cage.

It is amazing how some animals adapt to their living systems as a way of survival, lovebirds are birds that are not at all sociable with humans, these little guys are very friendly with my aunt to the point that she approaches the cage and they start to sing and make movements with their heads.

¿Las aves no nacieron para volar?

Hace algunos días fui a visitar a una de mis tías maternas, ella tiene algunos agapornis desde hace un par de años, mi tía ha criado aves desde hace muchos años si mal no recuerdo, ella tiene estos agapornis los cuales son bastante peculiares y particulares, ¿por qué digo que son peculiares?, hace algunos meses durante el año pasado ella le abrió la puerta de la jaula a estas pequeñas aves para que se fueran volando y vivieran grandes aventuras, pero lo extraordinario de todo fue que estas aves salieron de la jaula y recorrieron todo el lugar de la casa para luego de algunos pocos minutos volvieron al interior de la jaula.

Lo hermoso de todo esto, es que yo le había dicho a mi tía que tener estas aves enjauladas era una maldad, pues ellas nacieron para volar de un lado a otro viajando por el mundo, mi tía se sensibilizó un poco y me dijo que los dejaría en libertad, ella hizo esto pero como ya comenté antes estas aves no se fueron de su lado ni dejaron la jaula.

Es impresionante como algunos animales se adaptan a sus sistemas de vida como una forma de supervivencia, los agapornis son aves que no son nada sociables con los humanos, estos pequeñines son muy dados con mi tía al punto que ella se le acerca a la jaula y ellos comienzan a cantar y hacer movimientos con sus cabezas.

La cría de aves silvestre en cautiverio se ha vuelto no solo más habitual de lo normal sino que ahora usan este medio como un fin explotador de reproducción, actualmente existen muchos métodos para generar en algunas aves la necesidad de reproducirse aún cuando no esté en su ciclo natural, los agapornis, las guacamayas, los loros, las cotorras, los halcones, águilas entre otras aves no voladoras son las principales víctimas de esta oscura práctica, llamo oscura práctica debido a que esta práctica limita la vida de las aves haciendo que estas luego de unas 4 o 5 nidadas mueran por debilitamiento y desgastes, hay que recordar que las aves son padres sumamente atentos y que cuando estas están procreando y criando a sus crías literalmente no se alimentan.

Recuerda, si vas a criar aves, trata de darle una mejor calidad de vida sin llegar a la necesidad de explotarlas con los sistemas de reproducción inducidos que se aplican en estos momentos.
