EUPHORIA - A DOUBLE-EDGED SWORD

Introduction

There are often times that we experience moments of euphoria. It might be for a minute or a whole week in which we are just filled with positive energy. We are in a good mood.

These may often be caused by met targets/goals, doing something we love, starting something new or even improving in our relationships. It goes on and on. We find ourselves on the wheels to "jollywood" and we feel untouchable.

Learning in person

Now, I want to say that I experience these days a lot. Even now. I'm going through that phase and the reason is because I've been meeting my targets and smashing goals. Meh.

What I really want to talk about is the pattern of how this whole thing works. Speaking from personal experience, these are the moments that I should be more careful. We make mistakes during the dark times of our lives but we make costly mistakes during the euphoric moments.

See, I know this pattern. It happens a lot and I've always been foolish enough to overlook it because I thought it was normal. I mean we learn by making mistakes right? But the truth is, a mistake repeated is mere stupidity.

In case you're still lost, I'm talking about the the pattern that displays before the fall.

An Illustration

For example, using Hive. You set a goal to engage thirty people from six different communities, go through your feed and engage ten more, browse through other frontends like LeoFinance and learn something new.

Also on your list, you set to continue with your project writing. Enumerate people you have to call for an important task. You also pen down reading your motivational book.

Now, you wake up the next day and wow! You're just on fire. You keep going, engaging, commenting and just being awesome. You learn something new and even find new opportunities. You get new followers and add to that project. You call and chat up some people because it has really been a long time coming. After everything, you still have time to relax and binge on that book.

How would you feel at the end of the day? Fulfilled. You feel confident. You may even deliberately leave your house to go for a walk and just enjoy beautiful nature. Your walking step is different.

This is what discipline does. It boosts your confidence. But does anyone notice that it's during this time we are most tempted to rest?

The Fall - Watch Out!

We might wake up the next day and decide to browse through Twitter or Instagram because we did 'enough' yesterday. Our body relaxes to the cajoling of the mind. We listen to our desires.

It may not happen the next day but maybe a week after, a month or even two. The main point is, do not believe it is enough.

Conclusion

I am still talking to my mind to grow past that trickery. Like I said in my previous post, it is easy to form bad habits. Trust me when I say that healthy habits cultivated over the years could easily be dropped if care is not taken.

So we have to be really intentional and disciplined in building (I'm honestly fighting with my mind as I write this post) whatever it is we want to see in ourselves.

Hello dear @deraaa, yes indeed euphoria can make us trust and thus fall into serious mistakes.

Of course it is a feeling that involves a lot and is not always so easy to get, so make the most of it is best.

In every feeling, even in the good ones, we have to be very observant and wise, as you mentioned. Thanks for stopping by and for supporting us, greetings and happy night.

Feeling euphoric is something nice, we feel invincible and capable of anything, but like any strong feeling, we must be careful not to make decisions motivated by them, because when we no longer feel that way, we may regret it.

What good news that despite being euphoric, you try to control yourself and think with a cool head, thanks for sharing with us this publication, we send you a hug.

Oh my goodness 🤭🤭🤭
Deraaa, your words just slapped me left, right back and center 🤦🤦🤦

This is me my dear, and it happens not only when I achieve physical goals, atimes when I undergo a deep spiritual exercise like yesterday, today, I will relax and feel that it's enough...the one I did yesterday can still carry me...my poor mind... lolz

Same to my activities here on hive but glad I met this post today. Thank you so much Deraa for speaking to me directly....I gat to fight my mind right away and see who wins😌

Oh you will win. Because your mind is a part of you. It is you and as such, it can be disciplined. Just work one day at a time to make your mind submit. A beautiful day to you my lovely...

You raised points regarding awareness, consistency, intentionality and fulfillment. At the end of the day, these things are similar. I have always been a goal-getter, one thing I challenging myself with doing is to never see enough in my efforts. Because satisfaction can bring complacency.

This is a nice read. Yeah smashing goals brings about some kind of feeling, those positive vibes to keep it going.

Thanks so much for sharing

With love ❤️

developing a routine is easier when you have a process to follow.
but it takes effort to keep at it, especially when results are slow to see

I can relate to all of these things but I keep going and do not think because I have met my goals, I should relent. No! We keep going to make more goals and as we keep smashing them, we move onto another and it continues.

I popped in through Dreemport 🤗

My Goodness engage with 30 people, I am happy if I reach ten but I would probably be off to my "jollywood" when I reach 8. Then again I am not big on goals, I enjoy little by little continuous improvements

Yeaaaah. That is the secret honestly. The process. I recently have started focusing on the journey rather than the destination. Something I learned from John C. Maxwell
