Granada hosted Manchester United in Spain and United heaped on them 2 away goals pain. This is the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final tie between the two. This is the first time they are both playing each other since this is the first time Granada would be playing European football in their 90 years of history. Granada would be hoping for a miracle for the second leg.

United took control of the first half while Granada had an improved showing for the second half and came close a couple of times to at least get a goal in the game but the returning David De Gea had it all covered from his end.

Granada showed early signs they wouldn't go out easily as everyone predicted when they put United under pressure straightaway from the warning signs they gave.

United also responded with a threat of their own when Rashford was played through. He was initially blocked off and he laid it to Fernandes whose shot was blocked before Rashford gathered it and tried to find the other end of the post only to miss by just some fractions. Not long after, Soldado beat Lindelof to the ball but he couldn't get any angle to it and found the side netting instead.

The moment of truth came in the 31st minute when Lindelof got a great assist after finding Marcus Rashford with a long pass from the back. Rashford brilliantly controlled the ball and with composure, he placed the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-0. What an assist and what a good goal.

Yangel Herrera, on loan from Manchester City almost gave Granada the goal when his effort from the side of the box struck the upright. It was adjudged that De Gea got a touch and the referee gave a corner kick. The first half ended with that solitary goal from Marcus Rashford.

Like Shaw came off at the half time as a precaution since Scott McTominay also got a yellow card at half time which would make him miss the second leg. Granada played better in the second half but they couldn't go level on the night.

Maguire had a brilliant run and he drove close to the box but he missed his shot by a margin. What a goal that would have been - the drive, the timing and the angle. James was played through and he brilliantly found Fernandes who tried to pull off a Pogba v AC Milan but it was blocked off.

The game was killed off in the 90th minute when Fernandes was blocked off in the box. The referee pointed to the spot and with the help of the VAR as well. Fernandes stepped up and scored. The goalkeeper almost kept it out but Fernandes was lucky to have it in the back of the net.

The game ended 2-0 and United would have to be thinking of the replacement for Maguire and Scott McTominay who would be missing the second leg. Granada had late charges to at least get a goal in the game but they couldn't.
