Boxing is a beautiful sport of that I have no doubt, with my dad I used to sit and watch big boxing battles, my dad is a big fan of the sport of fists, I grew up watching boxing fights, but at some point it stopped attracting attention.

I don't know if it was because of the obvious lack of a great sports figure to attract the attention of the masses, or because my tastes simply changed and I preferred to watch other types of bloodier sports such as mixed martial arts.

However, for some time now I have begun to look again at the fights that in my opinion are more striking or when a boxer from my country fights.

On Saturday night, the 14th, there was a fight that caught my attention, well, the billboard that was there, I think it was quite striking in my opinion. The star fight was between Terrence Crawford vs. Kell Brook, who are two of the best boxers of the moment, and if you are a boxing fan, you will know this

El boxeo es un deporte hermoso de eso no tengo dudas, con mi papá me sentaba a ver grandes batallas de boxeo, mi padre es un gran fanático del deporte de los puños, crecí viendo peleas de Box, pero en algún momento de dejó de llamar la atención.

No sé si fue por la obvia carencia de una gran figura deportiva que llame la atención de las masas, o porque simplemente mis gustos cambiaron y preferí ver otro tipos de deportes más sangrientos como las artes marciales mixtas.

Sin embargo de un tiempo para acá he comenzado a volver a mirar las peleas que a mí opinión son más llamativas o cuando pelea un boxeador de mi país.

La noche del sábado 14 había una pelea que me llamó la atención, bueno la cartelera que había creo que era lo bastante llamativa a mi parecer, la pelea estelar era entre Terrence Crawford Vs Kell Brook, quienes son dos de los mejores boxeadores de la actualidad y si usted es fanático del boxeo ya sabrá esto.

The co-featured fight was pretty good, a rematch between Jason Moloney's brother, Andrew Moloney, and Joshua Franco who gave the Australian his first loss about four months ago, so the fight was hot, with a former champion looking to get his belt back.

The fight would not last long, only two rounds of action were on the ring, the rest was an absolute and shameful decision of the judges or the sports commission in that place.

From the first round Andrew was seen wanting to take his old belt, he was much more determined to attack, trying long combinations, so the Australian was the only one who put the action in the fight.

At the end of the first round, Franco's left eye was absolutely inflamed, so the judge called the doctor to examine the damage to the eye and if he could continue with the fight, the doctor gave his approval and the fight went on.

La pelea coestelar era bastante buena, una pelea de revancha entre el hermano de Jason Moloney, Andrew Moloney y Joshua Franco quien le propinó la primera derrota al Australiano, hace unos cuatro meses, por lo que la pelea estaba calentita, teniendo a un excampeón buscando recuperar su cinturón.

La pelea no duraría mucho, solamente dos asaltos de acción hubo sobre el ring, lo demás fue una absoluta y vergonzosa decisión de los jueces o la comisión deportiva en ese lugar.

Desde el primer asalto se vio a Andrew con ganas de llevarse su antiguo cinturón, se vio mucha más decidido volcado en todo momento al ataque, intentando combinaciones largas, en fin que el australiano fue el único que puso la acción en la pelea.

Al finalizar el primer round el ojo izquierdo de Franco estaba absolutamente inflamado, por lo que el juez hizo llamar al médico para que examinara el daño en el ojo y si podía continuar con la pelea, el medico dio su visto bueno y el combate siguió su rumbo.

Moloney took advantage of the notorious inflammation in the eye of his rival, who at that moment was no longer looking out of that left eye, and punished with accurate blows, perhaps they were not too forceful in that second round, however the punishment was notable and incessant, the inflammation of Franco, worried his team and especially the third man on the ring.

The judge again had Franco checked, and ruled that he could not continue with the fight, as he could not see due to the inflammation, which caused the fight to stop. Andrew showed his remarkable joy and celebrated what he thought was the return of his belt.

The judge expressed that the swelling was due to an accidental headbutt and by not going beyond the fourth round, it would be an unofficial fight so Franco would be lucky enough to retain his belt.

Moloney aprovechó la notoria inflamación en el ojo de su rival, quien en ese momento ya no miraba de ese ojo izquierdo, y castigó con certeros golpes, quizás no fueron demasiado contundes en ese segundo asalto, no obstante el castigo fue notable e incesante, la inflamación de Franco, preocupaba a su equipo y sobre todo al tercer hombre sobre el ring.

El juez nuevamente hizo revisar a Franco, y dictaminó que no podía continuar con el combate, pues no podía ver debido a la inflamación, lo que causó que el combate se detuviera. Andrew mostró su notable alegría y celebró lo que pensaba que era el retorno de su cinturón.

El juez expresó que la inflamación era debido a un cabezazo accidental y al no pasar más allá del cuarto asalto, sería una pelea no oficial por lo que Franco tendría la suerte de retener su cinturón.

This is where the embarrassment comes in. Decisions like last night's only make a mess of a beautiful sport, which has been dominated only by economic interests.

Acá es donde viene lo bochornoso. Un grupo de jueces ayudado en monitores donde tenían las repeticiones de lo que fue el combate, como sucede ya en muchos deportes que se apoyan en la tecnología, para verificar o corregir los errores de los árbitros, dilató alrededor de media hora observando una y otra vez lo que era una decisión obvia, la inflamación era producto de golpes en ningún momento hubo cabezazos.

Es bueno mirar como ya muchos deportes se apoyan de la tecnología para dictaminar y corregir errores de los jueces y hacer el deporte cada vez más limpio y un deporte tan envuelto en polémicas como el boxeo, creo que merece mucha transparencia para que pueda atraer a los fanáticos otras vez, pues creo que ha perdido mucho terreno con la llegada de las artes marciales.

Decisiones como la de anoche no hace más que ensuciar un hermoso deporte, que ha estado dominado solamente por los intereses económicos.
