Keeping aside all the doubts about series start due to CoVid 19 positive cases in Sri Lanka team, India and Sri Lanka started the tournament today with First One Day International match played at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

It's like both teams have to select Second string teams since India's main team lead by Virat Kohli is in England for the Test series which will begin in First week of August and Sri Lanka have to play an younger side too due to some of the players either suspended due to bubble breach in England or have been injured.

India were the better side today with 2 debutantes in wicket keeper Ishan Kishan and middle order batsman Surya Kumar Yadav while Sri Lanka had an debutante as well in Bhanuka Rajapaksa, a middle order batsman.

Winning the toss, Sri Lanka elected to bat First and they had decent start from pair of Avishka Fernando and Minod Bhanuka and the duo added 49 runs for the First wicket before Avishka fell out to Yuzvendra Chahal.

Almost all the Sri Lankan batsmen got the starts but couldn't make it big except for 38 and 39 runs by Charith Aslanka and captain Dasun Shanaka respectively but they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals.

When everyone was expecting Sri Lanka to get out before 250 margin, it was the Ninth wicket pair of Chamika Karunaratne and Dusmantha Chameera who batted sensibly to take the team score to 262 with furry of runs towards the end.

Karunaratne was particularly sever on allrounder Hardik Pandya and pace Bhuvneshwar Kumar in last 2 overs and top scored for Sri Lanka with score of 43 from 35 balls with 2 Sixes and a boundary.

For India, spin trio of Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav and Krunal Pandya bowled well along with pacer Deepak Chahar.

Chahal, Yadav and Chahar took 2 wickets each while Pandya brothers got a wicket each with Krunal Pandya being the most economical bowler in the match with conceding just 26 runs from his quota of 10 overs.

India Innings:

Set to score 263 runs from their stipulated 50 overs, India started well with openers being Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw.

Shaw was more destructive of the Two scoring almost at 180 strike rate and he scored 43 from balls with 9 Fours before being out.

In came the debutante wicket keeper batsman Ishan kishan and he didn't have any signs of a debutante as he scored brisk runs and became the Second fastest to score a Fifty on debut.

While Prithvi Shaw and Ishan Kishan were hitting Four's and Sixes, captain Shikhar Dhawan was playing anchor role to allow the 2 most expressive batsmen to score at their will and when Surya Lumar Yadav joined captain Dhawan after the fall of Ishan, they ensured India finished early with Dhawan finishing with 86 not out from 95 balls while the other debutante Yadav finished with 31 runs from 20 bals.

India scored the required runs in just 36.4 overs at a run rate of 7.17 runs per over and that was on slow Colombo wicket which many didn't expect them to score at such a fast pace.

This victory might not be that important as the Sri Lankan team is less experienced because of suspensions and injuries to players, but even Indian side is inexperienced too, but the way they played today, credit goes to them.
