toxic beauty

I have met a beauty today.

The name is Pieris brassicae (Капустница, or Белянка капустная in Russian). Not a unique insect, they are very well-spread here in Russia. I decided to make her portrait because she met this red mushroom on its way, whether she needed to rest, or was willing to explore it, but she spent a few minutes there. And I happen to be around -- I was taking pictures of this Amanita mushroom. It is beautiful and awesome and very festive-looking, picturesque mushroom -- but it is toxic, and no use for the beautiful butterfly in any way. Probably, she was just attracted by the fancy color.

And so are the people. We are so often attracted to other person which looks like fancy, enjoyable, charismatic -- and in fact, actually, is a toxic person. The sooner you find it out, the better. Cut off this contact momentarily, and learn to say NO. That butterfly was wise, she left the mushroom very soon.

location: Russian countryside August 2020 natural light
camera/lens: Canon 5D Sigma 150mm raw-conv
f 4.5 t 1/80 ISO 640 --

Thanks for stopping by!

Those photos are really cool. It's incredible how detailed their eyes is. Only possible to see that in such photos, not in real life. Specially because I am myope and all! 🤓
