RE: An unusual incident.

Hahaha, I cannot tell you what a fright I had my friend. Not so much about the face, but my eye lid refused to open fully.
Thankfully the doctor was right for a change and when I could see right again, I rushed to the mirror to see that everything was back to normal 🤣
Can you believe that they can't fully explain Bells Palsy?

Cheers and thanks.

I can imagine how it felt to not be able to open an eye. Even if it was only one eye it must have been a very bad feeling.
Well, I haven't even heard of this disease before, at least the name is completely new to me and I have no idea what it is called in German.

Scary my friend, very scary. To lose one's sight would be terrible.
Bell's Palsy is called in German, "Glockenlahmung" or "Bell-lahmung, Bellsche parese, Gesichtslahmung"

Cheers and thanks.

I have to admit that I had a look at the English explanation, but there was no German translation on Wikipedia, so I gave up searching - thank you for doing that for me 😁

Loosing my eyesight would be one of the worst things I can imagine. My eyes are bad anyway from decades of looking into monitors.

No problem my friend, we have much research stuff here after the graduate studies and so it was no problem.

Yes sight is very important and the blue light of monitors has wrecked many eyes. I try to stand up and walk every 20 minutes when I work on the PC.
Marian unfortunately cannot do this, as she has 300 plus students and she also marks thesises.
Her eyes are really deteriorating, but her income is what keeps us alive.

Cheers and thanks.

I'm sitting at the monitor all day long in the office and at home some additional hours, but not at the moment, because I turn the computer only on when I have to, but the phone is even worse, I believe.

Yep, if you rely on the work you just have to do it, even if it ruins your eyes.

Yes, the optrometist told us that the phones are even worse due to the screen size and the smaller letters. That's why I don't touch the phone.
Apart from the eyes, posture and correct lighting is also important for PC's, especially when one works long hours on them.
I have a clapped out old office chair, but the wheels still work 🤣
Amazing how many people we see with their eyes glued to their phone screens every day.

Unfortunately that is so true and the doctors are smiling all of the way to the banks.

Cheers and thanks.

Yes, I fully agree, but I don't like the settings on the computer which are better for the eyes, and the colours are different, so it's not usable for photo editing, at least not for me.

So, you do the editing on your phone?
First time that I hear about it, as I know very little about the editing programs.
I would have thought that a PC would be better, but one learns new things every day.

Cheers and thanks.

I could do the editing on the phone, of course, because I have the Adobe Lightroom app, but I rarely do that.
I prefer the Computer, of course, I wouldn't have enough storage on the phone anyway.

But I don't turn the computer at home on every single day anymore. Maybe I will have to if I have more time to go out and take photos - I will see in a few weeks ... or months ... or years.

Oh, okay I understand now and yes it makes sense to edit on the PC.

We have to turn the PCs on every day, as Marian has a devotion to attend every morning and here students also send her questions all day long.
She runs two jobs, the one paid lecturing and the other free Papillon admin, as we don't have the funds to employ a clerk. Sadly it is getting to her lately.

Hopefully the day will arrive when you have the world of time my friend.

Cheers and thanks.

I said in an earlier reply that you're lucky to have your lady Marian, but we all become older and what has been easy a few years ago, makes me tired now, at least some tasks.

You made a post about retirement today - that's the main target in my life at the moment 😉

Yes, so true and luckily she is only in her early 40s, so still much mileage on her dial.
I am slowly becoming ancient and she will be my wheelchair pilot, so I have to treat her nice otherwise she could push me in front of a car. Or even worse, a train 🤣

So, I am waiting for a post by you in Silver Bloggers, maybe with the title "The road to retirement", or some such to uplift other amateur old tired people like you 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

Oh yes, you should be nice to her, because she deserves it and because one day you might need her to be nice to you 😉

Well, this road is still very long and and I can't see the end of the road yet, so I will try to be a positive thinking amateur old man for another few years ... maybe I will find some time tomorrow at work to make a post, but I'm not sure yet.

(Edited)

Well I don't think that she has any reason to moan, exept the old moan that all woman have and that is that I never listen to her 🤣

Now look at it like this young man. Climb on a mountain peak in your mind and then you will see a sign next to the road in the distance. You will have to use your binocs to read the sign, but no need as it says "Retirement Stop"!!! There will be a little picnic table and chairs below the sign 🤣

Cheers and thanks.
