Common Darter

Dragonflies are my next favourite after butterflies. Although I can say the same about the ladybirds and the hoverflies and the bees...
Anyway, today I have prepared some photos of a dragonfly I had the pleasure to encounter last week. If it wasn't my hubby to pointed to me, I would rather miss it. It was almost invisible, blending with the shrub where it has landed. After I crop and enhance the images I saw how wonderful and colourful it is.

So, here it is. Isn't it a beauty?

I know the difference between the dragonfly and the damselfly. But after that I struggle to identify what kind it is. Again I asked for help. Like I receive help when it comes to birds from my fb group Birds in Bulgaria, the same is with another group called Creatures of Bulgaria. They told me this is Female Common darter Sympetrum striolatum. It seems to be the most common dragonfly in Europe. Well, if it is so common, I may see it more often.

Amazing photos Neli!! Its a beauty and you captured it very well! I had to laugh as sometimes my husband points out such things to me. He has a much keener eye, or as I say an "eagle eye", than I do! 🦅😁

I share with you the same passion for butterflies and dragonflies, but so far I have not managed to take such remarkable photos.
