Die hellgraue Holzeule ist ein Nachtfalter aus der Familie der Eulenfalter (Noctuidae). Der Falter fliegt im Spätsommer und überwintert als Imago an einer geschützten Stelle. Erst im Frühling wird der Falter wieder aktiv und paart sich. Sein Lebensraum umfasst Waldränder, Heiden und Wiesen in Waldnähe.

The light-grey wooden owl is a moth from the family Noctuidae. The moth flies in late summer and hibernates as an imago in a protected place. Only in spring the moth becomes active again and mates. Its habitat includes forest edges, heaths and meadows near forests.

Der Falter ruht tagsüber und ist ausschließlich nachtaktiv. Gerne fliegt der Falter an künstliches Licht oder an ausgebrachte Rotweinköder mit Zucker und einem Schuss Rum. Die Raupe ernährt sich ab Mai von den Blättern der Schlehe, Pappel, Weide und Eiche. Der Falter fliegt in einer Generation und gilt in seinem Bestand derzeit nicht gefährdet.

The moth rests during the day and is only active at night. The moth loves to fly under artificial light or on red wine bait with sugar and a shot of rum. The caterpillar feeds from May onwards on the leaves of blackthorn, poplar, willow and oak. The moth flies in one generation and is not considered endangered in its population at present.
