Hungry little fly
On one of those pleasantly sunny days I took my macro lens and went to my mums hard to shoot anything I could find. Flowers, bugs, spiders would be perfect, some birds if I am lucky.
And then, right at the edge of a garden bed, on a flower that was not supposed to grow there (but it did, cause it is pretty), I noticed this little, fatty insect.
For a very long time I was convinced it was a bee. Kind of looks like a bee with the fatty, yellow body.
But then I finally decided to look up the differences between those two and this is what helped me:
Bee | Fly |
---|---|
Narrow eyes more to the sides | Large, more round eyes |
Long antennae | Short antennae |
Broader back legs | Long, slimmer back legs |
Four wings shorter than body | Two wings longer than body |
It is a fly, right?
The pretty purple flower I mentioned is Candytuft. They grow around the garden uncontrolled. They sprout where they want and if it they are not on the way, they are left alone. Then they produce seeds, spread them around and the show starts over again. They are not big, so they don't really bother any other plant around and the view is just lovely and the tiny flowers pop here and there.
One year I took some seeds and had them blooming in a pot too. They are so easy to grow!

It's a "Schwebfliege" (Syrphidae) 😁
Smartass meand now an insect pro comes along and calls me wrong lolI'll stick with it though, it's a "Schwebfliege" 😊.
Bless ya! 😂
Maybe it is though... Some kind of Sch... Shw... Sheisse!!
Hoverfy I mean
Hoverfy...Hoverfly...Schweeeeeeeebfliegeeeeee...Unosząca się mucha...Hovermucha 😂
The polish word for fly looks like the Italian word for cow...mucca...I correct myself, it's not a Schwebfliege, it's a cow 😁
Hovermucha 😂😂😂
Almost spit me coffee here 😂
And so we ended up with Hovercow..
Now I have this image in my head of fat flying cows with chopper wings in their back.
Hahahah :D
Bonitas fotos. Saludos amigo
Thanks!
La naturaleza es una de las cosas más bella del planeta. Saludos
In childhood, we called these insects "Musicians", I don't even know why)))
When you catch them with your hand and bring them to your ear, they sing funny ... Probably that's why)
Have you tried that?
Yes, in childhood)
I agree with @bulldog-joy. Looks to be some type of hoverfly. It's a garden good-guy! Their larvae eat aphids.
Oh cool! They are more than welcome on my balcony then. :)
😂
