Fascinating Insects: Golden Carpenter Bee
Capturing the flying insect is harder than I thought, even I had to spend much time to deal with focus. Nevertheless, I managed to shoot its pictures while flying, no matter what I had to learn on shooting moving subjects. It is known as the yellow carpenter bee (Xylocopa varipuncta), a creature that loved to stay inside the wood and its use the time out to hover around the bushes. It is also called the golden carpenter bee as a quickly moving bee, that is not out to collect pollen but they are looking for a mate. Although, male carpenter bees are territorial, we’ve found they tend to avoid people and cameras which made me barely able to take a shot as he darted around rose bushes, but never alighted. He made a very quick pause as if to size us up before buzzing off again. An interesting fact we probably do not know: male carpenter bees do not have a stinger.
