Welcome to the Community - Willkommen in der Gemeinschaft

ENGLISH

In a Briar chat via Matrix.org the other day the question came up if Briar is an alternative to common messengers. And if it would be a good idea to implement file attachments and uploads in Briar.

At first this resulted in what I thought was a very interesting chat. It quickly came up how Briar is in some ways more comparable to Steem/Hive/Blurt than to Messagers and in some ways not. And then I wondered why I was actually delving into that in this chat instead of doing it right away on Hive as well.

The content of the chat will be the subject of my next post. However, the chat developed to the point that someone mentioned

Censorship resistance can be done either with mastodon/activitypub or even Scuttlebutt/Manyverse.
Problem solved.

That amused me a lot, because there is so much that not so many know. Financing is also an issue there! And that's why this community is no longer called "Briar (inofficial)", as first thought, but "Censorship resistant tech" in general.

I don't care in which language people write here. English is practical, but not mandatory. If you are multilingual, feel free to use several languages. If you like to translate something that someone else published, for my sake, please feel free to do so.

I'm looking forward to some major insights.

PS: Please cross-post into this community whatever you find on tech about censorship resistance.

PPS: If someone wants to contribute an image to this post, please comment with a URL and license/source information. Preferably via a server that can't be censored so the image never disappears. (So much in advance about file uploads in Briar).

PPPS: I came across Briar again recently, and then Matrix as well, just as I was writing this German language post: News again even without Hive
