Briar soon better then Whatsapp?

Was denkst du darüber? Was kennst du, was anderen noch unbekannt ist?

Is Briar an alternative to popular messengers? And would it be a good idea to have file-attechment/media uploads implemented in briar?

Gosh no!! Please take a look at Hive/Steem/Blurt. These are good examples for censorship resistant networks. The point is: They are text only networks for good reasons.

I don't see Briar to ever be an alternative to "social media". Briar is not about being social to me. It's about being precise and helpful, not about being nice (or rude) and distracting.

Yes I know Steem is known to have censorship caused by people having a lot of currency in that platform. Yet to me the important thing with censorship-resistance is, that censorship can be discovered. This lead to Hive and Blurt coming into existence. So I just don't want to forget to mention (censor) the fact that Steem existed and still exists.

The thing that I see similar in Blurt/Hive/Steem with Briar is the Wittness/Node technology. Every user is a node. And the more data is spread to the network, the more difficult censorship-resistence is in the hands of users. And that is why I rather compare Briar to Steem/Blurt/Hive then to any popular messenger. Including the fact, that there are blogging and commenting features in Briar as well.

We'll probably see a mix of Briar and Hive in the far future, where resource usage and proposition is implemented as well as cryptography for privacy application.

What are your thoughts on this? What do you know that is still unknown to others?
